Re: Article: 10,000 new homes vision

Doesnt he mention "key workers"? Wouldnt this kind of development be aimed at nurses, policemen, and other civil servants? Not that we would have 15-20K of them but you get the idea. How many people working in the city would be under such duress that they would let their subsidised living ...

Re: Low to Mid-Rise CBD Development

This might help...

http://www.thesouth.com.au/

I think the lower 2 floors contain 3 apartments starting at about 550K each, the other floors contain 2 apartments around 1.05-1.35M.

5 star green rating, thanks to a thermal chimney and 26000L RW tank.

Just 500,000 more people. Thats is just population growth due to the mining boom. I dont think any allowance was made for other migratory needs and Im not sure if this number reflects the family structure/support around the workers either. It doesnt seem like a lot of growth in terms of population b...

Initial studies into the effect of the mining boom indicate ~500,000 more people will be required by 2027, of those ~322,000 will required to be skilled (hence more $ to spend in the city). They propose $24 billion over the next 20 years to be spent on mining in SA alone, of that 11.5b in the next 5...

Re: other sites for a new stadium?

I couldnt agree more. The south or west parklands are the way to go. Both have train or tram access and are currently just turning to dust with water restrictions. After living in Melbourne for the past 18 months you see how much easier it is to get to the MCG or Telstra Dome, plus all the extra mon...

A lot of what I hear or read being approved or proposed is student accomodation, seriously how much student accomodation can we utilise? Is it just an easy way to get approval for tiny little apartments, that dont meet normal dwelling status, once built and not filled with students will be let to no...

Re: Vacant City Blocks

I agree, there is a large block located on Wakelfield St next to a Forme development that was finished a few years ago and the backpacker place. At the moment it looks like it is used as a car park and local graffiti hang out. Its sad to see these places under developed

Re: Vision: Light Square Tower - 100f / 500m

Tyler_Durdin, havent you just contradicted your argument. This kind of development would be an iconic symbol if the design and placement was right. If you showed any people the skyline of Dubai, yes most people would not know where it was but show them the Burg-Al-Arab and I bet that they would know...
