Re: #Proposed : Port Adelaide Tram Line

As I understand it, the proposed tramline will run along the edge of Bonython Park... 6 lanes of traffic away from the current and future population in Thebarton. How will this tramline drive regeneration along Port Road if the tram is on the far side of the road and cannot be easily accessed. From ...

[COM] Re: Victoria Park

A good proposal for what it is, but let's recognise the limitations of the proposal. The ridiculous comments of Harbo about this being the start of a world class urban park the likes of Hyde Park in London or Central Park in New York is an absolute joke. :wank: It certainly won't come close to eithe...

Re: Parafield Airport - Housing Subdivision

I heard (at the pub last night) that Parafield Airport will soon be sold to a Property Developer to subdivide for housing. Gawler airport will be expanded. My source is an Accountant who is apparently involved in the process. Anyone else heard likewise? Not true! But it's on the Salisbury Council w...

Re: 08/09 state budget announcements

Did Conlon accept this? No he didn't! How do I know?I was told by one of his advisers (no, it's not me) that his advisers gave him advice on the faults in this project, but HE DIDN'T LISTEN because Rann wanted him to present big things to the public so that he could get us all excited and happy wit...

Re: 2500 new homes for Gawler East

I don't really understand the gov's intentions very well. When they announced the TODS, they spoke of the success of Portland, Oregon, where they got their inspiration for the idea. But as far as I know, Portland has an "urban growth boundary" as part of what they call their "Smart G...

Re: If you want to live in a big, lively booming city......

I have to agree with Snorkie and Matt and share their sentiments about Adelaide. Some context… I grew up in the northern suburbs but now live in the eastern suburbs and work in the city. Most of my family lives in Adelaide, in the same northern suburbs I grew up in. I'm a strategic urban planner a...

Re: Planning System Overhaul 2008

It was assisted heavily by KPMG consultants who did similar work in Sydney. Jennifer Westacott from KPMG largely ran the review and reported to the Steering Committee. The Transit Oriented Developments sites were originally assessed by the LMC as suitable, then taken onboard by the Steering Committ...

[COM] Re: #U/C: Spark 88 Apartments - 15lvl 46.7m

This would almost have to be the worst building I've seen in some time! It's lego-like construction and bleak presentation is akin to the horrors of Communist Eastern European architecture... the only difference is the colour - beige not grey! It is a shocker from ground level (Hindley Street) and s...

Re: Adelaide boring, Canberra worse - NSW MP says

Oh cripes! I just looked him up. I do know who he is. He's that Scottish bloke who came to Adelaide to save us and left in a huff, isn't he? Holy moly, he sure can hold a grudge! I wonder if this disgusting 'article' is more about sour grapes than his caring a hoot for our 'once great liitle city'?...

Re: Adelaide boring, Canberra worse - NSW MP says

Oh dear! I haven't heard of this guy, I might look him up. I wonder where he is from? Yes, he is a bastard but the crying shame is many people will probably be only too glad to believe him. Leaving aside the stuff about drunks and a dingy Central Markets... he is dead right! That's the problem! Joh...

Re: Parcels of undeveloped land?!

There's always the possibility of foreign naval ships... Actually, there is no possibility anymore due to security reasons... naval ships no longer come into the inner harbour due to being too exposed and the length of time to get out to open sea. Shame, but reflective of the paranoid times we live...

Re: #Proposed: Airport Hotel - 42m

Bear in mind when looking at this proposal that there is not a set site or design for the hotel. The renders are simply concept drawings so that people have an idea what a building there may look like... and there is a large area indicated where a hotel could be sited.

Re: #Vision: New Inner-City Stadium

The rail yards site (A) is just too small so forget that... I simply don't agree that the rail yards site is too small. In fact, I believe from my investigations that it is about right with only some minor realignment of Port Road and potentially with the rail lines going underneath the stadium (wh...
