Re: News & Discussion: Trams
The original tram system was partly scrapped because the infrastructure degraded to the point that it all needed to be replaced. Why would anything be reused now? It wasn't fit for use back then and its been left to degrade even further for the last 50+ years.

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw
Jay Weatherill and Labor just simply do not get it then do they? Tony Abbott has explicitly stated and made it clear, time and time again, that so long as he is Prime Minister, his government will not invest in urban rail projects. Quite frankly, I have to agree with Tony Abbott, but in part. For s...

Re: APP: Cumberland Park Shopping Centre Redevelopment
I was talking to my mum tonight about cumberland park and she was very insistent that Woolworths haven't always occupied the supermarket at the site. She remembers Target Supermarket tarding there but I doubt this. Anyone else have an opinion? The Foodland at Castle Plaza was originally a Target Su...

Re: #U/C: Harbourtown | Stage 3 Expansion
Woolworths are going to progressively re-brand stores with the new logo as they are converted to the new 2010 format. As the name suggests they plan to convert all stores by 2010, which is mighty ambitious, and probably won’t be achieved though they will get a majority of the stores done. There are ...

Re: # U/C - Flinders University - 2 x 5 levels; $45 million
I know it's a bit of a small drop in the ocean, but a $3.3 million expansion of the Flinders University Sports Centre was given final approval this week. If there are not further delays construction is expected to be completed by February 09.

Re: Belair/Noarlunga line upgrade reports
The tonsley line has a lot of potential though.. They could get 5x as much patronage if they extended it 100m south into an interchange, there are a tremendous amount of buses that pass through there. I recently attended a meeting with the Vice Chancellor of Flinders University and several other st...

Re: Big new supermarket next to Harbourtown...
As we have all worked out by now the opening of Woolworths Harbour town is timed with the closing of Woolworths Glenelg. So they're going to uproot as many staff as they can from the Glenelg store (which is short staffed as it is), and chuck them in harbour town. As someone who actually works at Wo...

Wow cheers for posting that. Interesting to see the old State Bank signage on the Bank St motel and ANZ Bank on Hindley Street. I reckon there should be a billboard on that blank wall and more billboards across the CBD. No probs. Its interesting looking at older photos and seeing how Adelaide has c...

[CAN] Re: #Proposed: 64-68 Hindley Street ? Level Hotel
I just checked my street directory and I'm pretty sure that 64-68 Hindley Street is LC House. LC House is indeed the hideous building with the gold/brown stripes on the facade, but I doubt it was ever used as a cinema or theatre complex. Because if you look at the building's facade from Blyth Stree...

Re: Proposed - Bay Junction re-development - Glenelg -$60million
The store is due to oficially close on the 1st of January 2009 and not due to reopen for approximately 12 months. Employees have the option to move to the Harbour Town store, as it opening date is close to the closure date of the Glenelg store, or losing their job for about 12 months if they are ev...
