Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
Not even remotely true. Absolutely true. Adelaide metro used to publish the statistics but they're gone from the website. Only data I can find shows 31000 trips per day on the obahn versus upgraded gawler line achieving only 10500 per day. This is patronage figure, not a capacity figure. Hypothetic...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
No it shouldn't. Obahn carries more people per day than heavy rail can at full capacity. Not even remotely true. Absolutely true. Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
Once OBahn reaches its end of life it should be converted to heavy rail. No it shouldn't. Obahn carries more people per day than heavy rail can at full capacity. Ditto for trams. It has the added advantage of being able to drive off to feeder routes negating the need for transfer at the interchange...

Re: F1 Grand Prix at The Bend
Great pipe dream but it just won't happen.. too far away from a major population centre so they won't come close to the numbers they would get at the adelaide circuit. Plus they are determined to build a new market in the USA with 3 races on the calendar next year. Perhaps one day they will implemen...

Re: Should the O-Bahn be converted to light rail?
I would be disappointed for this to happen. What makes the O-bahn so great is because it moves more people per hour than equivalent light rail or heavy rail and it's fast (Modbury to Hackney in 15 minutes). However, the track is ageing and will need replacement soon. Speed limits have been reduced i...

Re: Moving the airport to a less populated area
I imagine it will be moved out north, possibly to the site of the raaf base. But not for at least another 50 years given all the recent investment at the current site.

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands
All the places you've named have been built on haven't they I at no point have suggested the parklands should be natural fields. They should be public space that offer South Australians things that the typically market driven private businesses could not offer. It is not just roads for normal busin...

I lived next to the line during the saga. From memory, i'm pretty sure the biggest concern was about the potential for anti-social activity generated from an elevated Croydon station.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Part of the problem on the Port Line is the large number of stops. That means heavy rail is just too slow. It is also fiendishly expensive compared to light rail or trams. Of course, light rail is also slow in the Australian context. However, that's something that could be corrected by operational ...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
I'm with PAFC - I won't be ditching public transport, but as a user of the OH line I will be choosing the bus on Port Road over the tram. I'm all for trams in inner Adelaide (city loop, Norwood, Magill etc) but this vision isn't the right fit and we know this because it takes 40+ minutes from Adelai...
