I hope the number of retirement units get reduced. This is prime real-estate (close to trams & CBD), could almost be considered a TOD development, and hence should be occupied by people who will use the proximity to regularly commute. Wayno - let's go easy on the retirees - I'm sure the active ...

Re: [] CBD Development: Low/Mid-Rise
They still have their sales showroom on Grote St at chinatown, which has a model/render of the building. I think I might go in and ask whats happening with it. This was mostly sold went I went in not long after it came on the market; so I don't understand claims to the contrary. If it wasn't going ...

Re: How do we lose the 'boring & dull' stereotype?
In fact you have not offered solutions, just criticism as to why you don't like living here. Which begs the question, why are you still here? Thanks Rhino. Will - let's be crystal clear. You have suggested increasing height limits in the CBD; council amalgamations; and topless bathing. You agreed w...

Re: How do we lose the 'boring & dull' stereotype?
I do not deny that people, particualrly the young compare Adelaide to Melbourne. If you can't resist making comparisons, at least compare us with cities our size; i.e. Brisbane, Perth and Auckland in our region and places such as Edmonton, Winnipeg and Austin in North America. Er, WIll. It's not ab...

Re: How do we lose the 'boring & dull' stereotype?
Yep, a larger population certainly helps, as does proximity of 'attractions'. I'm keen for your opinion on how we can work with what we have to lose the 'boring and dull' stereotype... Wayne - I fear it is too late. Adelaide / SA does not have the money (either in Government coffers, or in private ...

Re: How do we lose the 'boring & dull' stereotype?
Such comparisons are unhelpful. In fact they are quite stupid. You are conviniently forgetting that Melbourne is 4 times larger than us! :wank: Er Will, you need the comparison. There is no darkness without light; no hot without cold. How else do you think people come to the conclusion that Adelaid...

Re: How do we lose the 'boring & dull' stereotype?
Sorry to disappoint you all, but it ain't about the buildings. It's what goes on in and around those buildings that matters. For example - I love Melbourne and visit several times a year - and I'd struggle to identify the skyline. Sure, I'd recognise some flagship buildings, but unless I could pick ...

Exactly - and posters seem to have lost sight of this, so it merits repeating.omada wrote:ffs we do have a CBD Cinema Complex, and a very fine one at that - Palace Nova on Rundle Street.
We have a cinema complex, the Palace Nova on Rundle Street.

Re: [] CBD Development: Low/Mid-Rise
This thread is so untidy. Um, Frank1 if you still care, (and you're still there) East Apartments has around 50 car parks in the basement, and another 20 or so on the ground floor. Merc On Gouger - the only two apartments that would be livable were sold within seconds (if not prior) - 1 in excess of ...

Re: Trading Hours
Could we be a bit more specific about what one wants open after 6.00pm in the city ? Cinemas are open, restaurants are open, hotels (some of them) are open, the convenience stores are open, Mary Martin is open; internet cafes are open .... A couple of points - the traders are not open all the hours ...
