Re: #H/D: Gawler East | 2500h | 219ha
Update: Gawler Council have asked that Delfin and the State Government commit to building significant PT infrastructure in Gawler to address numerous issues if this is to be passed. Local thinking is that the council have made some deals they cannot back out of and this development is going to go ah...

Re: Visions that could make SA really GREAT
It is obvious that the eastern states do not respect us. As another forum member stated in another thread, they view us as a small child whose opinion is not relevant. In order to rectify this, our state government needs to develop vision. We need ambitious visionary things so as to attract the att...

Re: The Economic News Thread
I'm inclined to agree with Ricecrackers here. I am old enough to remember the last recession and there was virtually no major development in Adelaide for the best part of a decade. During that time, SA had a lot of unemployment. Federal and State Governments don't have endless coffers. How do you th...

Re: 2500 new homes for Gawler East
Gidday, This project seems to have gone quite, although there has been an article in the Herald or the Bunyip, can't remember which. Has anybody heard if anything is happening. Regards, We have recently discovered, here in Gawler, that the parcel of land for Delfin is going to be bigger than origin...

Re: If you want to live in a big, lively booming city......
Again, if we already have the infrastructure and it can be improved for less money, leaving more money for other cornerstones like Education, then I see no good reason to proceed with it. I think that's a very rational and measured argument against such a development. Can't argue with improving tra...

Re: 2500 new homes for Gawler East
Times have changed. People expect certain services for their money. Apart from adequate public transport, commercial zones, good schools and recreational areas...these days, broadband access is a growing and legitimate concern. There are newly developed areas in Evanston Gdns which are broadband bla...

Re: If you want to live in a big, lively booming city......
I've said my lengthy piece. I agree with you Neuropolis, except about being frightened by this site and the change it represents. Adelaide is indeed unique, and it will only improve. Most people on this site do truly want to "build upon what we have", although sometimes postings are used ...

Re: If you want to live in a big, lively booming city......
All I have to say is that a few years ago when I was returning from NYC flying the approach over North Adelaide and looking out on Adelaide's CBD and parklands under a clear blue sky it never looked so good to me before in my life. Even walking the old airport tarmac was no longer an embarrassment ...

Re: 2500 new homes for Gawler East
A quick update. Reading the Bunyip this afternoon (local Gawler paper) Apparently, the State Government have refused to have a community consulation process about public transport in Gawler in relation to the planned development at Gawler East. A proposal was put to them that they extend the existin...

Re: If you want to live in a big, lively booming city......
heritage, heritage, heritage, everything is bloody heritage these days get real - we should be bulldozing these things, if the facade is particularly impressive, then retain it, otherwise, its got to go. we are only contributing to a sprawling cbd by living in the past and retaining these buildings...

Re: ACC Stripped of Powers!
[ Indeed. I've said before that I'm not completely anti development. Arcologies, if I can do this briefly, are the vision of Paolo Soleri. They are, in fact, high density village structures that are both economically sustainable and ecologically friendly. The word 'arcology' is a compound of archit...

Re: ACC Stripped of Powers!
And maybe all of these ideas are not really very cutting edge or even especially innovative. Besides, cities are not defined by tall buildings. Development can mean all sorts of things and I hold our collective human future in high regard. It's just that, for me, a city means more than some notion ...
