Re: Does the State have a plan for a 2nd "major population h
However, if this SA mining boom really happens Port Augusta would be the smartest choice for a second major hub. Yes, it's not the nicest place but it's 2.5 hours drive from Adelaide and a rail link already exists. I would imagine that it would become a hub for the thousands of miners and their fam...

Re: Filling the empty months in Adelaide’s Festival calendar
Last thing to decide on would be a time. I’d suggest July. Science can’t really compete with some of the more exciting festivals so can’t really expect to get the good weather months. Plus a lot would be inside anyway. Also we have our festival of ideas in July so would complement it nicely. Nation...

Re: #VISION Liberal's railyard plan: new stadium & entertainment
Is that all that we've got to choose from in this state? Tweedledum and Tweedledee parties offering the same vision with window-dressing differences? "Oh but their hospital's here and their sports precinct is there, but in our one the sports precinct is here and the hospital's there" - bi...

Re: The Great Roads Debate
adam73837, you cant really believe that Mike Rann sits at home and plans by himself all of Adelaide's transport projects. No I don't, but what I do believe at this point in time is that the way in which they are rolling out these underpasses over an extended period of time (and not to mention the r...

[COM] Re: Proposed - Grand Retirement Village - Fullarton - $80million
The decision was sparked by complaints by residents about the final proposal and over-ruled an earlier approval granted by Unley council. These idiots would rather have a drug infested slum next to them instead of a retirement village :wallbash: They probally also belong to the Parkland Preservatio...

Re: Adelaide has to build a NEW stadium for 2018/2022 World Cup
It's not like there'll be soccer matches being played at the MCG and TD for the ENTIRE TIME No, but FIFA mandate that the stadiums that are used for World Cup matches are not used for any purpose other than Football (soccer) matches for a period 2 weeks prior to the world cup through to the date of...

Re: Footy at Adelaide Oval
I'd love for this to happen (especially the further upgrades mentioned in the sports section), but could Mike be cashing in his political chips with the SACA and SANFL to shoot Hamilton-Smith's proposal down? I know this has been mooted for a while, but the timing is curious to say the least.

Re: The Adelaide Landmark
If the windmills could function properly rather than just exist, i like the idea, for what it's worth. Personally I like windfarms and would strongly support plonking them all over Adelaide and near our somewhat famous sites. Windmills next to St Peters Cathedral and on Montefiore Hill, windmills in...

Re: Indy for Adelaide?
Even speculating on hosting the F1 in Adelaide is ridiculous - the amount of cash that Bernie Ecclestone is asking to host GP's, plus the cost required to build the infrastructure to continue hosting the GP once you have it - hundreds of millions of dollars for a 5 year race contract. F1 is the form...
