Re: News & Discussion: Road Rules

While we're bitching about road rules; is there an actual road rule about entering a blocked intersection? If not, why not? Every day I walk through the CBD from work to home. And every day I see motorists pull into a blocked intersection, gambling that room will appear before the lights change. Qu...

Here tis. http://www.nearmap.com/?ll=-34.921054,138.592501&z=20&t=h&nmd=20121002 And I'm seriously hoping they electrify ALL of the Adelaide yard, not just two tracks for the Seaford line, or we may require another complete shutdown of ARS to complete the rest of the lines. That...

[COM] Re: PRO: Goodwood - Bowden rail grade seperation project | $

The air conditioning plant for the convention centre was relocated from the east side of the Morphett St bridge to the west side some months ago. It can clearly be seen on Nearmap. Yes, but these are not the hole we are talking about. If you haven't been on a train recently, then don't respond. Exa...

[COM] Re: PRO: Goodwood - Bowden rail grade seperation project | $

Short-term pain for long-term gain! They seem to have sort of started work for electrical wiring approaching the Morphett St bridge, eastbound into Adelaide Railway Station; lots of those large, half-buried metal cylinders adjacent to the northernmost track. I think you may be referring to the air ...

Re: #Transport Projects

Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but i recently read about the possible demise of "The Overland" train between Adelaide and Melbourne. Reasons given are the declining passenger numbers (the operator reduced the service from daily to 3 times/week), slow journey times, old tra...

Yeah I know about the Northern Connector but no funding has been put on the table for it nor is there a timeline for it. I thought it will connecting the line more closer to Heaslip Road because of the proposed intermodal rail terminal to be built there. The concept drawings show the Northern conne...

[COM] Re: PRO: Goodwood - Bowden rail grade seperation project | $

The next step to be taken and should be done as soon as possible is to divert trains through Bolivar which will mean freight trains will no longer have to use the corridor through the Salisbury area and reduce delays for motorists at Kings Road, Park Terrace, Bagsters Road and Heaslip Road. This is...

[COM] Re: PRO: Goodwood - Bowden rail grade seperation project | $

Leave Cross Road as it is and have a long gradual underpass for the rail line. Having it lowering and rising, say, one kilometre either side of Cross road, it would not be too much of an impost on the freight trains . It would need to go under Hilda Terrace too. That's 2 less railway crossings. Are...

Re: #Transport Projects

Let me get this straight: you think keeping the trains running via a route that requires a high power to weight ratio to haul them, and prevents containers from being double stacked, will prevent us seeing more trucks? Ahhh the old Double Stack Myth! The Adelaide hills are NOT the only part ...

Re: SA rural roads reduced to 100kph

NSW does a few things I wish SA would adopt, because preventing speeding is better than punishing speeding. First, painting the speed limit on the road. Second, the massive speed camera signs that leave you in no doubt what speed you should be doing. One thing I notice when coming back to SA is I n...
