Re: News & Discussion: Trams
They're not trolley buses in Brisbane as they're not on an electrical network. They're battery buses. So. An electric bus that gets its power from a battery rather than overhead wires, but in every other respect...identical? Shrug. Ok. I'm not sure how that's an important distinction, but yes. Iden...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
What ABC is saying, it appears, is that infrastructure/housing needs to catch up, before we keep bringing in half a million people yearly. Problem - not enough houses/too many people. Therefore adding more people, when we still don't have enough houses, exacerbates the problem and other knock on ef...

Re: Sir Donald Bradman Drv / Marion Rd Upgrade
Why should future infrastructure go out of its way to cater to present development that's not even particularly high density? Is there any good reason why (with trams and supportive zoning) shops and restaurants wouldn't be built along SDBD? Using SDBD, it's just 6km to Victoria Square. But if you ...

Re: Sir Donald Bradman Drv / Marion Rd Upgrade
FWIW, unless you live on right HBR the buses in the area are terrible to non-existent. Try taking a bus to/from the city & west beach on a weekend and it can involve multiple changes and take 2 or more hours. What? The J2 and J1 both run through West Beach (albeit hourly on yhe weekends) and ta...

Re: Sir Donald Bradman Drv / Marion Rd Upgrade
Taking light rail down Henley Beach road takes advantage of the existing retail and hospitality that is well established there. HBR is already The Parade of the inner west, so let's build on that. People want to live close to areas with restaurants, pubs and shops not just a bunch of apartments on a...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Canberra has traffic light priority for trams on its line and its brilliant. 12km long line, dozens of intersections and you'll rarely stop at more than 1 red light the whole trip.

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
Bored tunnels clearly result in the least disruption to the surface above them. I'm disappointed that once it's all finished, the trip to the airport from the north will use less of the motorway than we do now, as we will have to use the exit before Port Road. Im sure there are plans for an airport...

Re: Re-Imagining the Adelaide Bus Network
So, I have put together v2.0 with a few tweaks around the edges. The following lists the updated/amended routes. Of note, reintroducing a service to Dunrobin St, including a peak service via Morphett Rd. Peak X600 will now be an L600 providing a limited stop peak service to the city from Aberfoyle H...
