It's barely regional, but lots of chatter today with people questioning the rail strategy of the government.
Mali has been telling people to leave early for the Lyndoch game since there's only one main road there, meanwhile the train line runs right next to the oval. With a relatively modest ...

Boards were still up last time I went past, imagine they'll be making a big deal of it once they pick the buyer.

I'll type something about this later but we always had an alternative plan for the museum. Having said that our states history will still be front and center.

Maybe the 'political' themed posts should be in the SA Politics thread guys? and we can keep this thread to the actual construction progress as it unfolds?
Either this tower is some special transformative thing as they keep trying to spruik, in which case it's relevant, or it's just a big ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
They should be laying the rails down into these new areas now. It will literally never be cheaper or easier than before the developments happen, and they can make the lines run straight to town centres.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Is it a case of ACC trying to force the hand of the state government?
ACC - "We're going to spend x upgrading OCS but we'll allow space for a future tram line if the state gov will fund it, hint hint, nudge nudge.."
It's this. It's also them calling out that while the street upgrade needs to ...

Re: News & Discussion: Active Transport
As a regular user of the existing pathway along this section, I think they would be best to leave the natural landscape alone and focus on alternative solutions. That side of the river is very steep and any new pathway would essentially be a bridge anchored onto the side of the cliff slope and ...

That actually low key makes sense… directly behind the festival centre and all that. Matches the sculptures directly in front.
See I didn’t actually like either of the previous versions of this building to be honest. They both looked like vapes with very little architectural merit to them. It ...

The roof top bar won’t be closing at 5 btw. I know the people using the roof top bar won’t be much, but at least there will still be some people there…
Some people at a bar 150m from the plaza itself is hardly going to improve the public realm there much.
Perhaps we're all wrong, and those ...

The public realm of this proposal is attricious. Not only that moving this many workers to a site which has no retail or lunch options and out of the core cbd where those businesses will ultimately suffer. All so malinauskus gets a vanity project.
You do realise that the core of the CBD is ...

It's less about Currie Street and more about the focal move to North Terrace as the focus of the CBD. Walker are getting a massive leg up here (have had one for a while) but this tower further reinforces the focal point shift. There's more to come development wise with North Terrace too, watch ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
I mean, everyone in this discussion is conveniently not mentioning Edinburgh as an option for AA... It's largely out of suburbia so there's more chance of lifted curfews, it's within an earshot of the existing North-South Corridor and Gawler Line so connecting these with an airport wouldn't be ...

This will have a pretty massive impact on the view when flying into Adelaide.
Here's hoping the Masons tower starts soon, despite the head start on foundation works it would be amusing if this never becomes Adelaide's tallest.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Also, slightly off-topic, serious consideration should be given to relocating Parafield Airport to the Dry Creek saltpans, and the planned housing estate at Dry Creek built where Parafield Airport currently is now. Look at Google Maps …. you could build a suburb bigger than Mawson Lakes in that ...
