Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
I think the adelaide CBD Apartments are now in over supply. every corner you can see some apartment construction going on in 2-3 years, when all these apartments are built, available on the market, how many people will really want to live there?? I think not THAT MUCH.. compare to the rooms availab...

Talk about thin-skinned; a journo writes an article about a better and cheaper bridge than ours. All energy on this forum is wasted on throwing dirt on the guy who wrote the piece and on his rag. Instead we should learn from it and make sure that we build something outstanding next time. Did you re...

It's new home is at the corner of Glen Osmond Rd and South Tce (yes, this is off-thread). Not at all off-thread, but you misused an apostrophe so you still lose a demerit point. Not too sure where to dump this post (maybe it should be a separate thread?) - there seems to be quite a lot that is about to happen along this part of North Terrace now. With all this expected activity in this area foot traffic across the the street will probably increase markedly. I can foresee a ...

You guys totally lost interest in development and construction? Joke?
This is an excellent outcome that could transform that part of the city.

Re: News & Discussion: Laneway Revitalisation Projects
At least that's one report that makes a fair bit of sense. Getting enough people into and staying in the CBD even after 5pm on other days than Fridays is the crucial thing. At the moment there just is not enough mass to go around. By making one part of town more attractive people will just move ther...

Yes, and if we can get that office tower on the lot next to it it'll look even better. Could be the start of a new near city hub.[Shuz] wrote:You do have to admit, for a car park it looks pretty good.

Privately funded cranes usually reflect business activity - government funded not necessarily so.rhino wrote:
I can remember a few years ago when we were wrapped that there were 8 cranes at work in the CBD, and here we have 8 on one site, with another 7 or so in the CBD/Oval precinct.

This is infuriating. These people are elected by a handful of people and yet have a say in how a capital city for a potential 1.5 million people is handled. South Australia really needs to rethink councils. http://www.lga.sa.gov.au/webdata/resources/files/Results_feed_6-20PM_13-11-10.pdf [/b] [/quo...

I agree both with those who say that 6 levels is better than nothing and those who think that such a prominent location deserves something taller. Is it possible/would it add much to the cost, to design the building in such a way that more levels could be added on later when things have hopefully im...

This was mentioned early last month. That there is plans to demolish the chemist and pool hall and replace it with a multi-level building featuring offices, retail and a supermarket. I'm thinking IGA? It will be interesting to see how long HQ nightclub will stay once the RAH is complete. Well, the ...

The problem of moving it out of the city is that people ONLY use it because it's in the city. OK not everyone. But I used to work nearby and we used to have a number of work teams. As soon as ourr offices moved to near South terrace no one was interested anymore as it was too hard to get to. (Bear ...
