Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
Project EnergyConnect will provide a new large capacity connection for big solar farms in western NSW, and a market for the Goyder wind farms. At some stage the lightweight 133kV line to Wudinna will need an upgrade. There’s a proposed iron ore mine that if it goes ahead, will need more electricity...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands
I think my issue is the south western side tennis and netball courts that are so unkept ( that could have changed in not sure) and the northern side where it’s a dust bowl and horses are roaming about. Activating these areas would be a big help. Theres just so much space, so much that can be done. ...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands
This development aside- I was over in SA last weekend and was pleasantly surprised by the improvement in public areas in and around Adelaide in general. Formal parks seem to be better maintained in the CBD. The riverbank precinct has definateley improved, and where appropriate the irrigation seems ...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
We are paying for it now and will still be paying for it decades from now. Sure. Around about 2010, transmission companies gold plated existing networks. That's before large scale renewables. That increases prices. In 2017, the privatised power stations in Port Augusta were scrapped without much no...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
AP1000 Westinghouse Nuclear Reactor.......cost $ 7 billion USD (thats 11 billion AUD)......power output 1100mw......estimated time of completion, if everything goes right, 2038-2040 What else could you buy for 11 billion AUD? Well how about lots of batteries for a start.... 11 (eleven) 500mw/2000mw...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands
meanwhile in Melbourne I prefer this sort of thing to the dusty semi arid Adelaide park https://i.imgur.com/IVV1SkL.png If im not mistaken that photo is in the Melbourne Botanic gardens precinct and what looks like governement house in the background- it should look great!. The middle of Botanic Ga...

Re: The Housing Crisis
I've been saying for a while that homelessness has increased significantly in Adelaide, you now see them in the suburbs too even during daylight hours. Where's the government support for these people? Instead of wasting billions on fake migrants here to exploit the country, how about the government...

[U/C] Re: 88 O'Connell Street | 63m | 13, 13 and 15 Levels | Mixed Use
Please tell me this is not looking as mediocre in real life as the photos suggest!? Some of the previously rejected proposals at least looked somewhat elegant. This cluster of boxes belongs in the South West corner of the CBD, not one of its major boulevards.

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
Although you may not realise it, this is precisely the point. Renewables and batteries are not yet and may never be able to provide large scale 24/7 power in an industrialised economy. The likes of Microsoft apparently agree. I also don’t think for a minute Peter Dutton believes in renewables eithe...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
“ If batteries can be made more efficient and economic”.. that’s a big if. The lifespan of the batteries is a big issue. Also I’m not sure how we’ve gone full circle from nuclear won’t / can’t / will never be feasible, to.. maybe they will work with a battery backed energy system. Back in the day, ...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
There will still be industrial electricity consumers that are likely to need grid power and not generate sufficient solar and battery power for their operations. Small home and factory wind turbines seem not to be installed in Australia. Industrial users of electricity are better off doing deals wi...

Re: SA Economy
Tarzia is a bit cheeky. It's the Olsen Liberal Government that sold off ETSA, meaning that the SA Government no longer owns power assets. But, according to Tarzia, it's the Labor Government's fault? Ok. So, a political statement from a politician. However, the problems of power prices aren't going ...
