Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
I’m sorry guys. I know this is the wrong thread to post this in but what the hell??? Apparently a new crowne Plaza just opened in Mawson Lakes. Isn’t that like a premium premium hotel brand??. When on earth was this announced this was being built lol. It looks reasonably nice https://www.adelaideno...

It makes you wonder if developments like this that are adjacent to heritage site are able to "purchase" their air rights. That way the heritage integrity of a site is retained, and the need for adjacent blank walls are removed. If this was the case here, the western facade could feature bl...

Great photos everyone! Seeing the growth of the central square skyline is awesome, especially the promising quality of the towers so far too.

Looks like they're setting up a pad for central piling, they need a nice and level surface.

I noticed over the weekend the concrete facade on the eastern side is being painted a charcoal grey. I wonder if the diagonal elements will get a contrasting colour to match the glass facade?

With the height of the podium, the office/hotel tower and the apartment tower, I'd say the Hilton won't even be visible from that angle!

According to a press announcement video on this project, the first two tower cranes will be on site in early Feb for the carpark construction.

I drove past this afternoon and the crane is an electric luffing crane. The boom was nearly finished its assembly. No climbing collar yet, but it'll definitely need one.

From what it's worth, I've seen two documents/pages list the tower as 122.5m tall. Perhaps the title should be updated to 122m (or round it up to 123m!)

A quick photo from a moving tram... There have been lots of concrete pours lately for the slab, with a large cube of concrete on the north tec footpath with the crane base enclosed in it. Wondering if the crane will have to start of high (ie around 16 levels off the ground) so as not to disturb res...

I'd suggest a crane rise is imminent on this site. The last core rise has the jump form not much lower than the cabin of the crane. I'd say the next crane rise will be the last too.

At this stage, from the outside, this would have to be one of the ugliest shopping centre builds I've seen. Not sure how they managed to get planning approval considering the exponential wealth in the surrounding areas, you would think local residents would have a lot to say about this. Hopefully w...
