Re: The Housing Crisis

I really find it quite sad that S.A is about to build its second $3 billion plus medical hospital, and yet mental health services are grossly underfunded. How about a nice new $1 billion mental health facility to be built, with 200 beds. Just goes to show how Governments at all levels pay lip servic...

On 9news just now, Qantas is considering Adelaide to Singapore.
All i'll say to that is, if they do, Qantas better offer their newest plane with exemplary service plus cheaper fares or it will fail spectacularly.

At least the livery on the plane looks a bit more inspiring than their previous version 😎

Re: The Housing Crisis

 an acquaintance from Sydney was in Adelaide over the weekend and remarked at the visible number of homeless people in Adelaide CBD I have to agree with this. I've visited Sydney multiple times over the past 18 months, staying in the CBD. There is, at least visibly, many more homeless ppl in ...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

Again though, if the state govt Invests in development of these transmission lines, how do they recoup or benefit moving forward. Is there a charge for electricity glowing through these lines back to the government?? I'm not sure if the Govt. would recoup money directly via a fee or levy as such. I...

A quick look at various sources under the Google search "Victoria Tower adelaide height" often quotes it as 120m. Thread title needs updating. Victoria Tower | 36 Grote Street | 120m | 37F | Residential Perhaps, but the above attachment also says the cost (I'm assuming construction cost) ...

Re: SA Economy

Well peeps, the CommSec State of the States report has been released for the September '24 quarter. S.A has lost it's number 1 spot to Western Australia after three consecutive quarters at the top. Still a pretty good result though ..... https://www.commsec.com.au/content/dam/EN/Campaigns_Native/sta...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development

Agree with Patrick here. I’m broadly pro-development and like to see taller buildings in the CBD, but student accomodation generally adds almost nothing to the vibe of the city at actual street level. Lots of tall buildings alone don’t make a city vibrant or interesting - it’s the businesses within...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

If you look at figure one which gives wholesale prices since 2020, you can see that SA is in the middle of the pack price wise over almost the entire period. That is, energy retailers like AGL, Origin etc are paying prices in SA comparable with prices paid by retailers interstate. So if that is the...

Re: The Housing Crisis

Hard not to agree with most things said by Matt Barrie in the above article. Our politicians really have made a mess of things and from both sides of politics. I still believe to this day that alot is still the repercussions from the GFC, most of which was simply delayed by papering over the cracks ...

It’s not too late they can still do it right ? Or is the concrete treated? I would think it's more about getting a concensus from the various owners within that strata now, would work out to be more of a pain in the arse than it's worth. Yep, and it would have to come out of the sinking fund and mo...

Can't say I particularly like the aesthetic of this one. It reminds me of the white/blue glass building on Coglin Street which I've never been a fan of.
