Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

I would rather see Grange close and government redirect and planned investment and annual expenditure saved elsewhere within the network, having travelled Grange both peak and inter peak, the line is virtually redundant and seems to only exist now out of the fact that neither party when in governme...

Re: News & Discussion: Other Transport Projects

To think maybe the current Murray Bridge area should have been used for site of Adelaide In 1836, a port was essential for a remote new colony. The river was barely navigable all year round before the barrages were installed. Having said that, Governor Hindmarsh preferred Victor Harbor. That would ...

Another study?! And with comments like "we cant take the old line all the way back to Angaston because it is now a bikeway???? I'm not holding my breath for anything to come out of this.
The next study will conclude that another study is required.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

An extension to Aldinga is just plain obvious. As for the Gawler line it seems strange to consider the Barossa the place to consider first. A spur to Virginia and Two Wells makes far more sense to me, or even to extend past Gawler to Roseworthy and Freeling. Not to mention Riverlea Park. Without ra...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

South Australian government wants to look like its doing something about expanding public transport.....to me it seems more a pr release to placate the whingers, rather than an actual plan. Adelaide rail extensions to be investigated with new funding in South Australia's budget https://live-product...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

Before building tram depots, how about they decide where, if at all, any more tram lines will run? Keeping on the topic of the motorway, the best option for trams right now is to extend the existing stub routes. I thought that was the whole reason the stub lines to Festival Theatre and Botanic Gard...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

the majority of people that use Adelaide Airport aren't wishing to travel into the CBD But once in the CBD it is so much easier to get anywhere else by public transport. That is why other airports in major cities have convenient airport links to their CBDs. Whenever I fly to Melbourne or Sydney, I ...

[U/C] Re: Ovingham Level Crossing Removal | $231m

Elder Smith Rd bridge was clearly designed to be upgraded to 4 lanes. The earthworks are already 4 lanes wide. So why was it built as a one lane road? Earthworks are just soil, unless they're actually serving their intended purpose. The same reason the Southern Expressway was built only one-way... ...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Cross Road/Marion Road followed by South Road followed by the Seaford/Flinders/Belair line. Three bunny hops in a row. I almost wonder if it would be better to just raise up the section of tramline between Cross Road and Goodwood station and enable even more roads to go underneath.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Flinders train was so late it ended up arriving after the time it was scheduled to depart.

It left the station very shortly after it arrived.

It's so ugly! If I was making a movie about a soulless dystopian future, this is the type of building I'd put in.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

At Nth Adelaide Station the ARTC line does have a separate crossing. However at Torrens Jn (where this week's incident took place) there is a single crossing across all 3 tracks which is activated by either ARTC or DTI trains. Does that mean if a goods train was passing pedestrians would be prevent...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

The photo in the article shows an Adelaide Metro railcar, but no where has anyone said that's what struck him. There's also the ARTC track there and goods trains take a lot longer to stop. They're also going quite fast, they can come from either direction and because they are less frequent, pedestr...
