Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses

This isn't a bus/train interchange. This is buses and trains servicing FMC and Flinders University. Running buses into the middle of the Flinders Uni precinct adjacent the train station would kill that space. In addition to the buses at the entrance to FMC there are bus stops on University Drive whi...

Went past this the other day and they look like they're at least up to level 3. At about 2,000m2 per floor that's 10,000m2. Hardly no discernible change.

The images from the Indaily article are the previous submission.

The new scheme hasn't been released.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Cross Road/Marion Road followed by South Road followed by the Seaford/Flinders/Belair line. Three bunny hops in a row. I almost wonder if it would be better to just raise up the section of tramline between Cross Road and Goodwood station and enable even more roads to go underneath. Surely then you ...

Re: #Official Defence Thread

In March they announced the land swap was agreed in principle. This announcement while primarily about creating positivity around ship building / AUKUS, it still provided timeframes for when each parcel of land was to be provided to the other party, how long they would be leased back and clarificati...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

Unlike the statements from Putin which are 100% true? Maybe I'm naive but I tend to put more faith in democratic countries with a free press (albeit controlled by private interests) than dictatorships with wholly government owned press. The west is far far far from perfect but in a battle of transpa...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

Simple reason there would be a moratorium on renewables....The only way nuclear power can compete with other forms of power (including coal) is if the plant is govt built and competition is removed.

Re: Flinders University - Developments & News

Funding has increased to hospital services but decreased from prevention services. This increases the number of people attending hospital and increases the co-morbidities. End result, longer stays in hospitals, more bed block, more ramping. Also, ageing population and Australia now pushing America i...

If they provide shelter more people will use public transport. DIT would then have to spend more money on public transport and less on their obviously preferred roads.

Walked past the other day, if you look through the windows there is some serious steelwork inside. The big difference between this and the Sands & McDougall facade is that the latter was literally just a 3 storey high skin floating off the ground. These shops are keeping 7-8m of return walls whi...

An interesting article about some of the hurdles for families seeking apartment living. Really needs to be looked at if we are going to reduce our reliance on heavily subsidized urban sprawl housing and it's detrimental effect on city vibrancy. https://www.theurbandeveloper.com/articles/apartments-f...

Future Urban are the planners who submitted the planning application. They are not the developers so it's not surprising that they didn't provide a response. Current grant schemes for heritage repairs/restorations are so insignificant in terms of funding that it costs developers of large heritage bu...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Many of the old stations had grade separated pedestrian crossings either above or below the railway. Now those are not being built? It seems like a step backwards. Anecdotally, I think this has something to do with concerns about pedestrian underpasses like the ones at Goodwood, Mile End etc being ...
