Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
I can tell you now that Adelaide will not have a direct Japanese route for a long while.
And we can make this assumption based off of when the premier went to visit Japan either in 2023 or 2024 I can’t remember and they had a meeting with Japan Airways and Japan Airways refused.
Don’t bet ...

Re: News & Discussion: Regional Transport
Rather than investing hundreds of millions of dollars into a regional rail network the government should make regional transport cheaper, more frequent and integrated into the Adelaide Metro system. This means being able to use Metrocards (with a higher charge, but not the crazy costs we have ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Particularly with the line being electrified. If the diesels could comfortably run the service, what was the point in electrification if there isn't a corresponding increase in service?
Exactly. And surely this is something a competent Opposition could bring up and hammer a government for ...

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker
$6b on a rail tunnel wouldn't be just to the Hills/Mt Barker - it would be beyond, potentially opening up the whole south-east of SA to viable passenger rail. If we can spend $15b for an unsustainable 10km hole in the ground to benefit the false economy of road freight, then $6b is petty cash ...

Timezone?? Never expected they to build at Timezone bowling one if there going to keep there old Timezone
Given the size of the current Timezone, and it's being relatively new itself, I wonder if Timezone stays where it is and Zone Bowling will go into this space?
Otherwise it would be a ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses
The full list of updates on 29 January have been released. The changes to the T840 are by far the biggest change. https://www.adelaidemetro.com.au/about-us/news/news-items/2024/bus-service-improvements
There had been talk about tweaking Gawler line timetables and connecting bus service ...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line
I've always been told that the new station would be an island platform with the metro trains on the non-museum side and the NRM trains on the other but that plan only shows one track into the platform....
Looking at the video here, it seems a very small part of the southern end of the platform ...

Re: News & Discussion: Other Metropolitan Developments
The 350 bus route was cut a few years ago along this section of Frederick Rd - only a School Bus runs along here now. The infrequent and interpeak only 371/372 service (https://www.adelaidemetro.com.au/routes/371) runs a bit further south on Frederick Rd.

Re: News & Discussion: Other Metropolitan Developments
My goodness, there is some awful language in that article.
'Fear overcrowding in medium density'. Uhh, what?
Interesting as well that Minister Champion doesn't think the area is worthy of a bus service as yet, when his own party protested the removal of the 350 route a few years ago which ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses
Traditionally there have been changes to AdelaideMetro timetables on the last Sunday of January each year. Will be interesting to see what changes occur this year - there was $30 million or so promised in the last State Budget for improving Mt Barker and Adelaide Hills bus services, as well as ...

Re: Beer Garden
Hey, this is a weird question to ask but I was wondering if anyone here knows what the big Balfours factory out at Dudley Park used to be before they moved in? I always remember they used to be where West Franklin is and its a pretty old looking factory so clearly it’s not a new build.
I'm ...

Re: Riverlea (Buckland Park) | 12,000 dwellings | $3b
It would be wise to:
- Reserve land for a rail corridor
- Or, even wiser, halt all further development and rip up the nasty, cheap contract with Walker Corp.
Unfortunately both the above don't seem likely....a new Development Application to seemingly speed up the development is on public ...

Mildura
Whilst not part if SA, Mildura is closer to Adelaide than Melbourne and if it were in SA, Mildura would be our largest regional centre by a long shot.
Now with Rex cutting Adelaide to Mildura flights, there's literally no public transport direct from Adelaide to Mildura. Qantaslink pulled out of ...

Re: News & Discussion: Regional Transport
As a result of the discussion on the Gather round thread relating to regional matches, Out of curiosity I googled Adelaide to Mount Gambier, due to a comment on the proximity (ease of travel) from Melbourne to Mt Gambier. To say I was blown away is an understatement. Using Google Maps as a search ...
