Actually that's not true. Most are returning "Australians". Only a tiny percentage are South Australians. 35000 people to bring home - only a few are South Aussies but we will still be accommodating travellers in medi hotels until everyone is home. All states are taking a share of returnin...

I think it's pretty safe.
Even the ones under construction are likely to have their opening dates postponed now....

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel
I would be curious to see the hotels financial modelling and what their profit forecasts are based upon? Quick scenario to consider: 39 event days at Oval per annum ( 22 AFL, 1 SANFL, 15 Cricket, 1 concert) On event days they would be getting a room rate of $300 per room. $300 x 138 rooms = $41,400 ...

This project continues to get stinkier and stinkier.....
And their modelling projects profits..!!!!! They can't make any other revenue line profitable at the Oval so what makes them think a hotel would be any different?
When this hotel ultimately fails we are all going to pay.

It's an interesting claim for compensation, I agree that it would be very difficult to quantify. Someone commented on the online article that the old Royal Adelaide Hospital closed at roughly the same time Realm construction started. They asked the question - would the business have struggled anyway...

Leon Byner and Mike Smithson (Ch 7) on 5AA this morning said something along the lines of : Under the Adelaide Oval Act the SMA is not allowed to spend one more cent on the Oval until 1st Dec 2019. I actually think the older hotels will be the ones who suffer. Compared to the hotels interstate do we even have a true 5 Star hotel now? I agree the hotels will cannibalise each other and room rates for older hotels will have to drop to be able to compete with the newer ones, so more competition w...

Would be a good way to activate that side of the Torrens in my opinion and sounds as though there is strong demand for further 4-5 star hotels. In addition some of those older hotels would likely need to consider upgrading as people would be more likely to stay in a new hotel Sent from my iPhone us...

For AFL games, cricket games and concerts - this is a no brainer. They will have no problems filling it for 30 days of the year (22 x AFL, 7 x cricket, 1 concert) The other 335 days - that is the big question. It's not exactly the most accessible location. It will need to be rated and priced 4.5 to ...
