[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
Will the "cost blowout" of the new Women's and Children's Hospital be met by changes to this project? Will it by just pushing the costs "further to the right" (deferring construction), or will it become a cheaper design because the new attitude to heritage means it can be built ...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
I had hoped this forum would have a considered debate on extending the Northern tunnel to Croydon, the lack of a right turn on ANZAC highway, or the troubles with transparency and information provision to those affected by the future construction works. But no, what do we have? A tit for tat debate ...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
I doubt it does.
It would be far easier/cheaper to take all of the houses on the other side (and a couple of businesses). Most of them are old places sitting on huge blocks of up to 40-50m in length and from what I can see in Google, they are mostly undivided.

Another $1 Billion has been added to the projects overall budget, taking it to $9.9 billion, to ensure each tunnel has 3x traffic lanes on each side and that there is sufficient space for an emergency vehicle slip lane. I don't know who said it, but these changes were 'to ensure they get it right fi...

It's just after Ayliffes Road with the old Mitsubishi plant to the left.
Looks like they will take some of the land near The Crescent for widening, which may not be good news for Adrian Brien.

The answer to this rise congestion was in the KPMG report. It was called 'Short South', a 1 billion dollar freight route through Eden Hills and St Marys that connects the SEF with the NSC at the Darlington end. It was costed by KPMG and deemed viable. All of the other alternatives, Short North, a tu...

I was told this weekend that the Feds are refusing to commit major funding to the main stretch, even if the state Libs had a shovel ready plan for the infrastructure stimulus money on time, because there's no business case that can be written up which shows it will make a profit. No profit means ze...

https://metrotunnel.vic.gov.au/construction/building-the-tunnels-and-stations/tunnel-boring-machines At 0:25 the Engineer says that this TBM bores approximately 10m a day. I think there was some sort of DPTI conference on Monday and there was a bit more detail on the proposals for the final section for North South Corridor. It is now down to 2 options: Option 1 - Open Motorway A combination of at-grade, short tunnels, lowered and elevated motorway as seen on other pa...
