Passengers travelling by bus and wanting to transfer at Port Dock Railway Station will have to walk to Port Adelaide Railway Station approximately 700m south during this time.
Interesting that they wouldn’t also suggest using one of the five bus routes that conveniently links Port Dock ...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
I hope that DIT has realised the folly in their side-platform idea. A massive waste of space in most contexts - it has caused much of the congestion now experienced on North Tce, with no benefit to tram passengers. The platforms are much less convenient to use than the island ones, as passengers ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Very interesting read here regarding many infrastructure projects including an underground rail loop through the CBD with a 05 year planning deadline and 5-10 year delivery deadline!

Great to read that somewhere in ...

Re: News & Discussion: Regional Transport
How many stops would you put on this initial inexpensive service? Would Two Wells, Virginia, Salisbury and Adelaide be enough? Or would you go even simpler and just go for Virginia and Adelaide?
The standard approach for infrastructure expansion is to try to stage it in line with demand.
So ...

Re: News & Discussion: Regional Transport
and also figure out how the train will move past the Islington and Dry Creek rail yards... Will they move through the yards or will there be new track to bypass them. Moving through the yards will add considerable time to the journey and will require careful planning with the companies that ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
I like it. Great idea introducing an all-stop service between Flinders > Salisbury, meaning the Gawler > Seaford services can run express through the inner/middle suburbs.
I still think a 15 min weekday frequency on the Flinders > Salisbury all-stop line should be the aim if we want to grow ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
I've said this before but Port Dock could (and should) be realigned to go east around the Aviation Museum, there is almost enough of a vacant corridor to get a track running north along the P/R Expressway and then running west along the Northern Connector. This then shares some of the load with ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
I think itd be easier to build a rail freight bypas thus freeing up the existing ARTC track on the Gawler line into a third track, which alleviates capacity issues by operating as a peak hour express track.
The Northern Connector rail bypass would definitely help, but only north of Dudley Park ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
New lines out north to serve the growing suburbs are needed, but can they be accommodated when the Adelaide Railway Station is already at capacity?
Do we need to create an underground link before expanding the system?
A north-south tunnel link would ideally remove most or all Seaford/Flinders ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Sky rail isn't really a concept here in Adelaide. It was just the Hove crossing that kicked up a shitstorm.
Although concerns could have easily been allayed had it been communicated properly.
It was communicated pretty clearly that any option other than skyrail would require far more ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Whilst any investment in removing level crossings is welcome, I'm a little baffled Curtis Road was chosen as a priority. The issue up there isn't the train crossing, it's the road capacity. It needs duplication.
Level crossing removals are always traffic projects, the benefit to public ...

Re: News & Discussion: Regional Transport
I’m sure there’s figures out there, but would be interesting to know how many people traveled to games at AO each weekend via coaches vs private cars from Riverland/ Spencer Gulf etc.. surely there is a case to investigate a couple of modern V/Lo city sets for these lines, and book slots for ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
And then spur off at Salisbury past the base and head back up to MacDonald Park and Angle Vale.
Build a second station in the southern part of the CBD and an underground loop through the cbd.
Would it be possible to extend from Flinders down to the Woodcroft area?
In the medium term, Angle ...

I would hope to God that whatever hospitality offering turns out to be anything else except another stock standard American burger bar, Cibo or a Funk or yet another "dive" banh mi vietnamese cafe.
A bar offering beer and hearty breakfast/lunches/dinners would probably be the best fit for the ...
