Re: New Retail in the CBD
A new eRepublic (Apple Reseller) opened its doors on Rundle Street over Easter. I wonder how they feel about An Apple major coming to town.
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.
Re: New Retail in the CBD
It's been a close to a year since you posted this, and yet not a word at all about this supposedly future Prada store on North Terrace....source of info wrote:As for the big name brands such as lv, gucci etc..
i have heard prada confirmed a site on North Terrace near David Jones, but will try source more definate info.
Heard some of the big players in Adelaide are trying to get these big brands to the boulevard to detract them from rival Burnside.....
You claim you have a job with lots of contacts or 'access to this type of info', yet quite a few times you've stated that your source has been overhearing a conversation at a cafe and on a plane. Sorry but with a username 'source of info', I've always found you to be very suss and dismiss all your posts as just rumours.

Mate. If I hear info I post it like everyone else does. Plans change a lot and I can tell you foremost that a lot of brands are on edge at the moment , so they're becoming very cautious. I'm been in the industry for over 10 years and have seen many brands sign contracts and then change their minds. The building owner of the site on north terrace mentioned prada were to move in on the basis other labels move in around them to create a hub. This isnt going to happen overnight.

North Tce gains global appeal
17 Feb 11 @ 12:00pm by Jessica Whiting
NORTH Tce could become Adelaide’s answer to Paris’s iconic Champs-Elysees, with a trio of international brands looking to set up shop on the state’s cultural boulevard.
Fashion heavyweight Chanel, luggage retailer Louis Vuitton and jeweller Tiffany and Co are interested in opening on North Tce subject to finding appropriate space, according to Rundle Mall Management Authority chairman Theo Maras.
“North Tce today, the way it has been rebuilt as a cultural precinct, only lacks one thing for it to match boulevards around the world, and that is the retail,” Mr Maras told the City Messenger.
Mr Maras said the evolving mix of shops in Rundle Mall, and plans to upgrade Adelaide Oval and the Riverbank precinct were the driving forces behind the attraction of international brands to the state.
Mainstreet SA chair Julie Wrobel said the street’s aesthetics, such as its historical facades, would appeal to high-end retailers.
“It is very much a tree-lined, boulevard type main street which is appealing to the high-end shops,” Ms Wrobel said.
“The high-end brands that I have heard the rumours about, I expect they would be looking for buildings and locations that have a dominating presence. North Tce is a tourist attraction, Rundle Mall is a tourist attraction, it makes sense for them to set up there.”
Jones Lang LaSalle retail leasing manager Georgina DeAngelis said she had seen a steady increase in the number of global brands making inquiries about setting up in Adelaide during the last six years.
“Adelaide certainly has missed out for too long with the global retailers overlooking our state,” Ms DeAngelis said.
“The motivation for the brands to establish in Adelaide will be driven by the right opportunity and the right location.”
Ms DeAngelis said North Tce property owners would have to be motivated to make their heritage buildings workable for high-end tenants to foster the growth of the strip.
International brands would be looking for anywhere between 80 sq m to 1000 sq m of space, with rent determined by the quality of buildings available and demand, she said.
North Tce between King William St and Frome Rd underwent a more than $25 million facelift between 2003 and 2010, including new paving and landscaping.

Great, An Apple store......
Does this mean the people of Adelaide will more likely get bored soon by someone starting a conversation with "OMG! i just got this new app for my iwhatever....."

It's called 'clustering' and the only way this will ever happen is if developers actually planned to allow for two or more stores such as these to take up tenancy and provide the appropriate floorspace/frontage requirements to them. I even struggle thinking of a suitable location for these stores on North Terrace.source of info wrote: The building owner of the site on north terrace mentioned prada were to move in on the basis other labels move in around them to create a hub. On that note, I really wish Myer would close off its North Terrace entrance and use the old cafe entrance instead (might be a Gloria Jeans there now?). It would open up the historic North Terrace façade/lobby to redevelopment for a high end boutique fit out right next to Max Mara.

Oh, is that what it is? I saw it for about three seconds in passing and for the life of me couldn't work it out.cruel_world00 wrote:Is this what you're talking about?Omicron wrote:Am I missing something about the southern side of North Tce?

Re: New Retail in the CBD
anyone know why that old health food shop and the neighbouring pink former clothes shop (Ice or something), across from the Myer Centre has been vacant for a couple of years now. Why on earth wouldn't the owner not want to do something with it
Re: New Retail in the CBD
Not sure if this is the best thread, but anyways...
Between the SA Archives & Coffee Branch on Leigh St is a cute new patisserie called 'From Scratch'. They exist on the driveway with the blessing of the ACC and the Coffee Branch (their lease includes the driveway land). I spoke with the ladies staffing the stand who explained they know the cafe owners who consider it a win-win situation - it helps them sell more coffee!
More of this please. I sat at the cafe for 1/2hr or so and watched as people wandered past, did a double-take, smiled, and came back to buy a pastry.
