The rail bridge appears to be progressing quite well (nearmap feb 22). Commuters will certainly get a nice view
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Some may have been following my updates on this project on RailSA, but for those who arnt, here is an Update.
Last i saw, tracks was laid from the Goldsmith Drive overpass to just South of the Old Honeypot Rd Bridge.Stacks of sleepers and rail were adjacent the corridor at Noarlunga Centre ready for placement (I didn't get to look there today ).
The Bridge over the Onkaparinga is progressing well and is nearly half Complete. The new depot at Seaford Meadows is progressing with points and tracks laid in the Northern part of the yard, and perimeter security fencing complete down the eastern side of the Depot. The Depot Buildings have most of the External cladding installed, just awaiting fitting out inside.
seaford Meadows Station has both it's lift wells, Platform faces and Park "N" Ride facilities mostly completed. The walkway over the lines and Depot entrance were being worked on today.
The Southern portion of the Seaford Rd bridge appears to be complete apart form the concrete edge barrier.
The cutting between Seaford Rd and Seaford Station, is still being lowered to the right depth and soil pinning being undertaken on the cutting walls to prevent landslips.
Seaford Station has half the platform faces installed, its lift wells , Park "N" ride facilities have been leveled and soil pinning still continuing near the Lynton Tce bridge.

The Southern spans, out even further now. I never realized the bridge isn't actually level till now. it has a gradient up towards Noarlunga Centre.

This is project seems to be progressing quite nicely and quickly, but can anyone tell me if it will be open prior to the whole line being electrified. In other words if they finish this extension late this year, does that mean it will remain unused until the late 2013 when the whole Nourlunga line electrification is complete?
Or can/will they run the current train setup to Seaford stations if it is finished eary?

My understanding is that the "new" electrics will operate between Seaford and Noarlunga (Platform 1), and the Diesels will operate between Noarlunga and Adelaide for the first 6 months. This info was provided to me at one of the open days for the extension from one of the project people so not sure how accurate it is.

SEAFORD Shopping Centre storeholders and centre owners are preparing for a tide of customer traffic when the new train station opens next year.
The new Seaford District Centre station is due to open late next year.
Centre owners say they are considering a huge 7000sq m expansion of the centre over the next three-to-four years to meet demand, which shopping centre syndicate manager Harry Perks estimates would create another 200 jobs.
Mr Perks said that the Seaford area was growing at about 4 per cent a year and the train would only boost this.
"The train is going to help the growth in this region and is going to help the growth in retail," he said.
"We're strategically placed to get the benefit."
The centre is only 100m from where the new Seaford Centre station will stand.
Cuts for Men and Women hairdressing and beauty salon has just moved into a new 95sq m shop - double the size of its previous site - and is increasing the number of staff from six to 10.
Owner Anthony "Fraz" Armstrong said the rail extension would allow existing clients from outside the area to reach his shop more easily.
"I know a lot of clientele do come from the city, so the rail extension is going to link us up a lot easier," he said.
Mr Armstrong predicted it would also result in an increase in new clients.
"The foot traffic will make me and my staff a lot busier," he said.
Next door to the shopping centre, a consortium including the Leasecorp Group of Companies also has plans to expand the shopping precinct with a new mixed residential and retail area timed for completion when the line opens.
Leasecorp director Tony Syrianos said the area overlooked parkland and would make a pleasant place to live and work.
"We know that when the railway comes it's going to help the whole region," he said.

A recent update / article about the seaford extension on the DPTI website stated expected completion of 2014, I thought it was a typo at the time. Maybe not?
