Lost Events
Re: Lost Events
Wouldn't hurt, and even spread it through social media?
I spoke to some friends about this back in December, and they were also disappointed it doesn't happen anymore.

The decision makers at Westpac are most likely old fashioned folk. Nothing beats a signed petition, or a terse letter stating many people are upset...crawf wrote:Wouldn't hurt, and even spread it through social media?
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Give me a dotted line to sign on, and I'll be there with bells on!Ben wrote:Wonder if we could start up a petition to get it up and running for Christmas 2012.
It's = it is; its = everything else.
You're = you are; your = belongs to.
Than = comparative ("bigger than"); then = next.

Very hard to find a photo of this, but heres one taken by AtD in 2006.
It's better when the normal office lights are turned off, with just the christmas tree showing.
And it looks like it was still used in 2007 even after Westpac took over, but that must of been the last year.

In my opinion, it was pretty average. Google images for "Hong Kong Xmas lights" and have a look at what they do to some of their high rise buildings at Xmas time.crawf wrote:Big loss, it was great seeing this as a kid. It was a unique Adelaide tradition, hopefully one day it will return or even in a new future high rise office buildingMaximus wrote:Another lost 'event'... The Christmas (Xmas tree) and Easter (the cross) light displays using the windows of the State Bank / Bank SA / Santos building. I don't think this has happened since Westpac took over the naming rights. Which is a great shame, IMHO. The Christmas tree in particular looked very cool and was visible from lots of locations outside the CBD.
Anyone else feel that this is a bit of a sad loss?
A big lighted Xmas tree like the one in the above post would look fantastic in the new Victoria Square however!!

Re: Lost Events
The tree has been set up in the square for over a week now, the construction is going on around it, but they haven't decorated the tree at all yet.ml69 wrote:A big lighted Xmas tree like the one in the above post would look fantastic in the new Victoria Square however!!
