Although dated by now this is such a great photo of Darwin. Imagine the picture now including the completed Pandanus (29fl), the Evolution (33fl) and the twin Arkaba towers (9fl) next to the escarpment building in the foreground, plus completed Waterfront buildings.
May have to get a chopper ride in July to get this sort of update.

What's the latest with this, out of curiosity?
Unrelated to the above question, I'm currently doing an article review about this very development. Basically this article talks about how Darwin's long-term residents got the rough end of the stick with this, and how it's a clash of external vs. internal interests. Interesting stuff.

Re: #U/C: Darwin Waterfront Redevelopment
As I understand it, the first stage was completed a couple of years ago and includes the convention centre, the carpark tower, hotel, and the first couple of apartment towers, and the landscaped lawns, sea wall and wavepool. It only really seems busy during peak tourism season (mid year dry season). the locals go to a few of the good restaurants there, but apart from that there is nothing to draw them to it. It is a nice place to be, with the exception of the hotel building which seems out of place and doesnt belong in the tropics. Except for a couple of restaurants, there is nothing there to attract local residents there after dark (pubs nightclubs etc), and the walk to get there from the city is generally dark, and does not offer weather protect.
Im not sure on the progress of the later stages, however hopefully this will include improvements to the connection to the rest of the city. Apart from that, it really is a good development, and is an example of what can be done with a containimated industrial waterfront.
