In the latest update from AAL, Rental Car operations are due to commence on the ground level of the new carpark on Jun 27. This will then allow the demolition of the existing 'temporary' rental car booths and the water tower.

Its also good to see that the car park will utilise the latest parking guidance system to indicate where there are free parks.

I'm probably alone here, but I quite like the water tower. It's another good way to make more revenue by having a billboard attached to it.

I agree the water towers like a bit of history, it's one of the only original structures left!

What did they mean when they said at the end of the above video "terminal expansion" and "hotel"? I recall a few years back there were a few things floating around here about them.
Also, does anyone know if the terminal expansion means they will be attracting new airlines here? "Emirates" and "China Southern" spring to mind as airlines that have stated they are looking at coming here.
I take back many of the things I said before 2010; particularly my anti-Rann rants. While I still maintain some of said opinions, I feel I could have been less arrogant. I also apologise to people I offended; while knowing I can't fully take much back. :)

The terminals designed to be expandable and will be expanded when demand warrants it. Hotel plans were put on hold because of the GFC.

Adelaide Airport Ltd are constantly trying to attract more airlines. Those two have made public statements abut their definite plans to fly here, and are expected to be next. But it is likely to be regional airlines (carrying FIFO workers) that will create demand for the expansion.

I went down there today as well. It's all looking like it's coming along nicely.

The car park works are progressing well with the rental car companies moving into the ground level of the new carpark and the southern access ramp having its' final concrete pour. Th eold rental car offices are now earmarked for demolition and work is going nicely on the porte cochere. I'm impressed with what i am seeing so far and i think it will something that Adelaidians will be proud of.

There are some good pictures of the progress in the latest installment from AAL. http://www.adelaideairport.com.au/asset ... 20June.pdf

Can't believe this hasn't been posted. It's a little fantasy but boy it's so god damn sexy!, especially that glass canopy being lit up at night/

This could seriously look extremely amazing and a wonderful first impression for visitors. Hard to believe over 6 years ago we had a tin shed and an old school building as our major terminals.

who would've thought that a multilevel car park of all things is what it took to give an otherwise bland/cheap looking airport terminal complex a little bit of style
the designers have done well here

Yes, well done Crawf, i hadn't seen that clip before.

AAL has posted another update here: http://www.adelaideairport.com.au/asset ... 20July.pdf Essentially the main activity this week is focused on isntalling the entry road canopy to the side of the new carpark. This is the louvered section hanging above the roadway in the youtube video above.
