Yes I agree leigh st should be closed to traffic. And no, I disagree on having the seats in the middle, it just makes 2 narrow walkways either side and waiters have to cross potentially busy pedestrian traffic, better to put the seating on the sides and have pedestrians walk down the centre .that and adelaide shouldnt copy poor laneway ideas from melbourne, adelaide needs to develop it's own unique style of side street.

How about the style of side street where common sense prevails rather than adhering to silly impractical 'designer' notions.: :P

This cocktail & wine bar proposal is based on the design of Section 8 in Melbourne. It would be located here on Hindley St. Opposite The Apothecary which is also a great little wine bar & restaurant - well worth a visit.

from AdelaideNow:
Shipshape bar to lure revellers

THEY have been used to create a bike hub in Hindmarsh Square and even house prisoners at Cadell.

Now, an architect has proposed turning a shipping container into a trendy bar for late-night revellers.

Plans for the unusual cocktail and wine bar on Hindley St have been lodged with the Adelaide City Council.

Under Terence Feltus's proposal, staff would serve drinks from the container which would be on an open lot carpark on the southern side of the strip between the Dog & Duck and Red Square.

The carpark would be transformed with a fireplace, polished concrete floor and landscaping behind a wrought iron fence.

The bar would cater for 96 patrons and trade seven days a week from noon to 3am. The proposal is based on Melbourne's popular Section 8 Container Bar.

In his submission to the council, Mr Feltus said the "novel" and "lively" bar would largely cater for the after-work crowd aged 25 and over.

The proposal will go before the council's Development Assessment Panel tomorrow.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

this should be fantastic. Section 8 has a great atmosphere and has been extremely successful. a similar bar would become extremely popular in Adelaide, especially during warmer months.

That's a lot of money for just the bar...

I belive it is the bar and the ground floor interior (excluding thge restaruant)

apparantly they have to go up the building floor by floor (I'm not sure if that means they have to get approval every floor or not)

Without digging up an old thread, Santos will be taking up 3 levels in the newly refurbished 30 Flinders St. Santos are taking up office space at an alarming rate. So far they have obviously their H/O 60 Filnders, level 5 in the CGU Building next door, level 4 & 6 in the Alianz building 89 Pirie St and now 30 Flinders St. I wouldn't be at all suprised if Santos move again in the next few years.... We all said the new office was going to be too small for them.

I believe their lease on Flinders finishes in 2017. Good time to start looking for a new consolidated office ;)
