Nice but, they'll probably name one of the stands in the redeveloped Adelaide Oval after Sir Don. I would think they'll come up with some Aboriginal name...yes, but not "Secret Men's Business Bridge" as mutt cheekily suggests otherwise I would suggest "the bridge of sighs"...as in sighs when we lose at the Oval.dsriggs wrote:Bradman Bridgecruel_world00 wrote:I can't wait for the ensuing debate over naming the bridge.

How about Platform 9 and 3/4?
Why? Adelaide railway station only has 9 platforms. This bridge looks like and has its own platform thing at the end and also, it connects the oval to the railway station and by allowing us to walk there in 3/4 the time it would've have otherwise taken for people to walk along the KWS bridge.
Oh,and just because every city should have a Harry potter reference someplace.

We can all grizzle and carry on, but I for one, like the way it does not overtake the area with bulk but instead is graceful and simple. It appears a little 'end heavy' on the southern end in the render, but in reality the same balance will be seen as with the rest. Love the curve. It will perform it's function well and enhance the other projects. (the real focus). Not sure about lighting - this can be a great asset if done well.

I hope you forward this excellent suggestion and associated reasoning to the relevant authority when/if submissions are called for![Shuz] wrote:How about Platform 9 and 3/4?

Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

Imagine where Adelaide would be if Moran's parents never met.

Seriously that woman . This council has done enough damage to our city from losing a century old racecourse to the negative approach to development, and if this bridge is put in jeopardy then I'll be seriously pissed off. The footbridge is a very crucial part of connecting a redeveloped Adelaide Oval with the riverbank precinct, public transport and the rest of the city centre.
It needs to be wide enough to cope with the tens of thousands of people that will use it during sporting events and concerts. If it's too narrow then it will become extremely congested deterring people from visiting the city or possibly become a very dangerous situation.
Adelaide City Council is seriously messed up, on one hand they are doing great things with projects like Splash Adelaide and then there's this.... showing their old true colours
