Some buses have been stabled there during non peak hours, on weekdays only for the last couple of months. Transfield also have a small depot in Bowden now too.bay transit wrote:Transfield Services(operating as Light-City Buses) will begin operating tomorrow from a new depot at Gillman.

Re: Public transport smartcard system
Since GPS tracking is apart of the package of the Smart card system it would be wise then for Adelaide metro to release realtime data to Google Maps to build on the Data already released. https://developers.google.com/transit/gtfs-realtime/
Wonder if there will be any Co branding with Master card or Visa Card for example or a release of a smart phone app to act as a virtual Adelaide Metro Smart Card utilising the NFC chip embedded in the phone. There are cities around the world in test phase using this technology.

Re: Public transport smartcard system
NFC is not the same as RFID ... so are the off the shelf readers able to be adapted I wonder... Also NFC doesn't seem to have caught on in the Australian handset market like it has in South Korea and Japan.Verbatim9 wrote:Since GPS tracking is apart of the package of the Smart card system it would be wise then for Adelaide metro to release realtime data to Google Maps to build on the Data already released. https://developers.google.com/transit/gtfs-realtime/

Re: Public transport smartcard system
They have already confirmed that live tracking will be available from next year.

I realized that already but I wonder if they are going to keep the real time data in house or release it to google maps? Hopefully release it.
Re: ## General Public Transport thread
My patience with the post-9am freeloaders is wearing thin. Are they deliberately late and stupid to annoy me?

Re: ## General Public Transport thread
What I'm curious about is how they wound up there (near Oaklands Rd) - it's a good 1 3/4 km along the line from the Mann Rd entrance. Surely you'd realise you were in trouble way earlier.
Re: ## General Public Transport thread
baha, they probably deserve a prize (maybe a free eye or IQ test) for making it that far in a little car like that, great skills

These f&@king idiots really piss me off. How the #$@% do you have a licence if you can't tell that the O-Bahn is not safe to drive on. #@$% ^^anker, I hope you die painfully in hell. That also goes for everyone in a car the drive on the O-Bahn.

Re: ## General Public Transport thread
I really don't understand how people continue drive onto this! It makes me laugh everytime... Granted that if travelling 60 at the Mann Road entrance, it would be awfully hard to pull the sharp turn to use the exit lane right after the entrance. But I'm sure there's sufficient distance to stop the car, and reverse out before hitting any 'sump busters'...
Sure, there's curiosity, thrill, etc. Hell, I'd like to drive on the O-Bahn. But I'm not a complete idiot. I would never do it in a car. I'd get a job with TransAdelaide and legally drive along before I drive a car on there!

Looking forward to a free-flowing Adelaide!

Re: ## General Public Transport thread
I'm guessing that they mindlessly follow a bus in?

Re: ## General Public Transport thread
It really is quite amuising.
Not that it will probably do anything, but they should replace the entrance sign with the typical warning sign format.
