Doesn't look like there will be much of a hill at all

yep i was thinking the same. Appears about 1/2 the hill width is gone, unless the grassed area is being extended further back. There used to be ~8 rows of seating in front of the hill, plus the path behind. Now 15-18 rows of seating (plus path?).
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

less hill means more seating at a higher price......

still the place looks great, I'm going to head down to the first shield game (partly to watch the pathetic redbacks but partly to take nosy)

Am I the only one who feels the teal seating colour is out-of-place at Adelaide Oval? I realise that they're matching the western grandstand, but it seems to me that maybe cream would have better suited the heritage aesthetic in the first place.

Yeah, teal was AAMI's garb... I was hoping for something fresher too.

Ah well, bigger fish to fry I suppose.

I had a spare minute or two before lunch today(Wed03/10/12)...
Noticed one or two things of interest.
The area outside the Clarrie Grimmett Gates(Northern end) has been cleared for what looks like an entrance plaza of some sort. Work still in progress of course.

As I entered to climb the Western Stand to my usual vantage point I came across a small obstacle:(

Being lawful good I obeyed and wandered elsewhere for these shots:

Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

Love the pics, particularly the last one. Always get a pang of excitement when I see Kasey's replied... hahaha :applause:

The view out the back of the Southern Stand is going to be fantastic. Hope the terrace/dining room are accessible to the general public. Would be a shame for such a cracking view to be kept to the privileged few?

No worries mate, I get a thrill out of taking them, I'm a stadium nerd and this is mana from heaven for me:) Happy to share on a regular basis:)

sort of, but if you look at a photo from this time last year, the boundary line has come in a couple of metres, especially in the north west pocket, to bring the ground more in line with an oval shape rather than the previous rectangular form. The north eastern corner wont change as much because it was always more curved than the members side.

Therefore in the nw corner and right behind the goals, there would an extra 3-4 rows that would not have eaten into the hill at the back, however it seems there are a few rows cut of on the ne side, so that it doesnt affect the hill as much. If I can find a photo I will show you what I mean

Part of Adelaide Oval ready for cricket

Part of Adelaide Oval is being reopened for a Sheffield Shield game this week.

The Stadium Management Authority has opened the first stage of the redeveloped oval, where South Australia will play Tasmania from Tuesday.

The Oval's northern mound has been transformed as part of the $535 million redevelopment and has now decking shaded by Moreton Bay fig trees.

The Authority says there will be enough room for 2,800 seated and 3,500 standing spectators.
