How recently have you been into a sanity? It's about 20%CDs, 20% DVDs and 60% band t shirts and other such merch.

Here's what Tea Tree Plus was back in that day:

It appears the project is being scaled back according to this article:

Westfield reduces proposed carpark in $200m Tea Tree Plaza upgrade
WESTFIELD has scaled back plans for its $200 million redevelopment of Tea Tree Plaza Shopping Centre.
Tea Tree Gully Council's Development Assessment Panel last week approved an application to reduce the centre's proposed five-storey carpark to two storeys.
The carpark, near the corner of Golden Grove and North East roads, was part of an upgrade announced in 2006 which included 95 new shops and a link with Tea Tree Plus Shopping Centre.
Westfield spokeswoman Julia Clarke would not comment on when work would begin, despite building approval lapsing in June.
Approval for the project has lapsed twice previously and been extended by the council.
"Westfield will maintain an active development approval ... and will continue to work closely with the local council," Ms Clarke said.
Ms Clarke would not reveal how much Westfield would save in building costs as a result of the carpark reduction.
As previously reported by the Leader Messenger, the redevelopment would create 1300 jobs during construction and 600 new jobs in the shopping centre.

Not much to worry about, it is only the carpark. Which is clearly a deliberate ploy by Westfield to get eithet TTG council or state government to build a new multi story carpark by the interchange.Rene wrote:It appears the project is being scaled back according to this article:

Pretty sure the State Government already has plans for a multi storey car park adjacent the interchange. I would venture to say that while Westfield will build a 2 storey facility, it should be built to engineering specifications to support 5 storeys should yjr need warrant it in future.

Hopefully we'll see some progress on this soon. I recon the last TTP upgrade (when K-Mart etc was built) was back in 1991. It's long overdue

TBH it doesn't need expansion as much as it needs some internal remodelling. Inside it's really tired looking and needs some sprucing up- they should at least replace the flooring, it doesn't look very nice.relapse wrote:Hopefully we'll see some progress on this soon. Perhaps the sprucing up could be coordinated with the regular refurbishments leaseholders need to undertake...peas_and_corn wrote:as much as it needs some internal remodelling. I find the timing of the resubmission interesting. About a week after the resubmission Aldi says they are opening stores in SA and targeting the North.
Pure speculation, but I wonder if they knew before Aldi announced it publicly. They could have got approval so if Aldi says yes to opening a store at TTP they can start construction without delays.

1997/98 was when K-Mart & Coles were built. Big W & Woolworths were built back in 1991.relapse wrote:Hopefully we'll see some progress on this soon. I recon the last TTP upgrade (when K-Mart etc was built) was back in 1991. It's long overdue

So what was there before the 91 build? The only major retailers I can think of are Bilo and Myer. Very small for a Westfield. And not really a pair that go together. Up market department store with a budget supermarket. The Scooter Guy wrote:1997/98 was when K-Mart & Coles were built. I first remember TTP from 1989. and both Big W and Woolworths were there then. There was also Myer, target, and where Harris Scarfe now is was an Arrow Superfoods (supermarket). The mall layout was more or less as it is now, but only went up as far as Target upstairs. Tea Tree Plus had not been built. Over at Modbury triangle there was a Bi-Lo supermarket.

Ah Thanks. I forgot about Target. I know the triangle Foodland was a Bilo, as Ive seen it still has the old layout and signage that the Romeo's tend to keep. But I do also remember going to TTP in about 2008 after Bilos had converted to Coles and the Bilo was still there where Harris Scarfe is now, due to their contract with Westfield, and the conversion was in late 2006. And ive never seen these 'Arrow Supermakets' through my childhood, so they must have been gone for a while.pushbutton wrote:I first remember TTP from 1989. and both Big W and Woolworths were there then. Is Tea Tree Plus part of the Westfield holdings or do they have a separate owner?
