for any south aussies in the uk please follow this link to pie nirvana (obvisouly at a cost) http://www.gourmetfoodsdirect.co.uk/
actually i was at the oval for the port vs geelong games last october and they were selling vili's pies next to the usual range of other food stuffs and the line for the pies was something to be seen - prob 80 long!!
good to see a south aussie company over here though

i used to like balfours but they have changed over the years like their donuts!
Villies!
I agree
Cafe De Vili's is also a great place for a cheap meal, especially in the late evening/early morning where you can just chill out lol
... although if vili gave the place abit ofa makeover it would be abit more pleasant

Vili's are crap, but best out of mass-market ones.
Clarendon Bakery is where it's at when you want a good plain beef or chunky steak pie. If you want a fancy-pants yuppie pie then McLaren Vale Bakery's beef & burgundy and chicken & chardonnay pies are the go. I'm also quite partial to Willunga Bakery's potato pies.
No doubt you can now tell from what part of town I hail from.

as for metro bakeries... Dulwich Bakery is probably my favourite, followed by St Georges Bakehouse.

Quite delicious, hence why I mentioned them.Cruise Control wrote:chardonnay pies? hmm what they like? i never thought id live to see the day where wine and pies mixed together.
It's a chicken pie where chardonnay is used in the gravy or the meat has been marinated in it. Either way, they're great and also medal winning pies. A bit pricey, but well worth it!
Yeah they have, I used to be a mad Balfours fan - but now I prefer Vilas.madexml wrote:VILLIES PIES ROCK!

Mt Barkers best bakery is Millys Bakehouse, think it was voted the states best bakery not so long ago.
Usually the best bakeries are in the country, though there are some brilliant bakehouse's in the suburbs.
Awesome place Cafe De Vila's, one of my best friends lives right near there - so jealous I would love to have a 24hr bakery just around the corner from me .bmw boy wrote:Cafe De Vili's is also a great place for a cheap meal, especially in the late evening/early morning where you can just chill out lol
