Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw
Since the rail shutdown commenced a few days ago, a large number of masts to support the new wires have been erected across the approach to Adelaide Station. Lots of stuff visible from North Terrace!
Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw
So what exactly is being built out near SAMHRI? Is this just a platform extension or something, sorry if ive missed it.

Out of interest does anyone know what the white (concrete??) beams are across the rails just before the Morphett Street bridge? Are they to separate the two work sites (Rail yards and Convention Centre)?

well look at that. If they keep accidently putting up the poles on the lines on the Torrens side, then hey presto - Gawler line is electrified. Anyone know what proportion of the Gawler line already has the poles, I know through Uncle Cruise's neighbourhood they are all installed. Still have a hunch that as soon as the Noarlunga line elctrification is complete we will find some money to finish the Gawler line

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the Gawler line part of the Rail Electrification Project funded by the Feds?jk1237 wrote:well look at that. The is only two areas with poles I'm aware of is being in between Nurlutta and Elizabeth South stations and in between Broadmeadows and Smithfield stations.jk1237 wrote:well look at that. It does look like the whole Adelaide yard will be done in the first photo - hope so - they will be over a new track configuration so now's the time to do it.

Strange that there's a metro train on this line.. Nonetheless, thanks for all the pictures! Great to see it starting to take shape. They're really moving along quickly with this.Xaragmata wrote:Pics from Friday
Some masts are up on the Noarlunga Line as well, I saw a few when I was going over the Beach Road bridge, and I also saw a single pair as I was going down the Lonsdale Highway this afternoon.
Looking forward to a free-flowing Adelaide!

It puzzled me when I saw it once on Monday, but watching trains coming & going yesterday, I assume it is the Gawler trains coming & going from Nth Adel to change tracks.neoballmon wrote:Strange that there's a metro train on this line.. Correct. Gawler trains are using the Gaol loop(now now as Gaol spur) to change tracks.Xaragmata wrote:It puzzled me when I saw it once on Monday, but watching trains coming & going yesterday, I assume it is the Gawler trains coming & going from Nth Adel to change tracks.neoballmon wrote:Strange that there's a metro train on this line..
