Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
It's in addition to the existing apparently - this is a plan for the broader area, incorporating the previous plan for the core. (Not a downgrade, thankfully, which was my initial concern)Patrick_27 wrote:Well, if that is a revised master-plan of the Riverside Project, I'll be voting Liberal's in March, 2014. 2 cafe's/restaurants? What a down-plan to what was originally proposed!

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
So the riverbank precinct currently gets 9 million visitors a year? I thought it would be less considering Brisbane's southbank apparently gets 10 million which is only 1 million more than our own river which hasn't even been developed yet.
Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
The 9 million probably includes zoo patronage, popeye, AO, red ochre restaurant, Jolley's boathouse, elder park concerts, passing cyclists, joggers, etc...stevedude95 wrote:So the riverbank precinct currently gets 9 million visitors a year? Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
Yes, perhaps the 9 million figure's a little light on given Brisbane's South Bank is a mere 42 hectares against the massive 380 hectares Renewal SA are broadly considering our riverbank precinct.Wayno wrote:The 9 million probably includes zoo patronage, popeye, AO, red ochre restaurant, Jolley's boathouse, elder park concerts, passing cyclists, joggers, etc...stevedude95 wrote:So the riverbank precinct currently gets 9 million visitors a year? Keep Adelaide Weird
Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
If everyone in Adelaide went for a daily walk along the riverbank the area would 365,000,000 visitors a year!Wayno wrote:The 9 million probably includes zoo patronage, popeye, AO, red ochre restaurant, Jolley's boathouse, elder park concerts, passing cyclists, joggers, etc...stevedude95 wrote:So the riverbank precinct currently gets 9 million visitors a year? On another note; Adelaide Festival organisers have announced on that the 'Barrio' club will not return in 2014 because the redevelopment of the AFC car-park will have commenced. There appears to be a God somewhere... No more Hajek Plaza!!
Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
Barrio is a good idea, but obviously the Plaza sits idle for the other 11 months of the year. It'll be a sad day when it goes.

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
From my understanding, they plan the create a new club similar to Barrio for next year. Eventually the new Festival Square could pose as a new venue for Barrio. Wait and see!carcrash wrote:Barrio is a good idea, but obviously the Plaza sits idle for the other 11 months of the year. It'll be a sad day when it goes.

I love(d) that plaza. But unfortunately the caretakers took no care of it and allowed it to become a worn out mess.Matt wrote:Bring on the bulldozers.
