Thanks Pants. Punctuation goes a long way in making sentences make sense

I thought I saw bit of the facade up on the bottom yesterday! Confirmed by this photo on SAHMRI's Facebook pages

Yes there are about 6-8 panels already installed on the ground floor (level 3) and they expect to start seeing more daily but because they are coming from china it's unreliable. Maybe they should have had them made in Adelaide and the job would have been finished by now, and probably would have been cheaper as well.

Not to mention give a few local people a job. In fairness, though, I have no idea if SA companies manufacture what is required?RiseHigh wrote:Maybe they should have had them made in Adelaide and the job would have been finished by now, and probably would have been cheaper as well.

I was told by someone high up on site that they saved 2 million by going with a Chinese company, pretty sad really, maybe they got what they (Hindmarsh) deserve, pity all the Subies on site have to suffer because they have to pay for the hold ups, this job is months and months late, and rumor has it that it won't be finished by there latest deadline either.

I was told that the glazing wasn't able to be put into shipping containers as it is too large, meaning that the glazing has to split in half and re-welded here at a cost of $2m.RiseHigh wrote:I was told by someone high up on site that they saved 2 million by going with a Chinese company, pretty sad really, maybe they got what they (Hindmarsh) deserve, pity all the Subies on site have to suffer because they have to pay for the hold ups, this job is months and months late, and rumor has it that it won't be finished by there latest deadline either.

Hindmarsh has put out there construction deadlines and the facade is meant to be finished by 26th July. I don't think this is realistic but at least we should see some changes very soon. There should be another panel delivery tomorrow.

A nice glazing shot on the front page of the Autumn SAHMRI News, along with a slideshow of construction pics inside:

The glass looks amazing on this one. Cannot wait for it to be finished. This will truly be a quite a landmark once complete.

Inspired by a pineapple? Agree with all above, will be a truly iconic building in the city.[Shuz] wrote:The glass looks amazing on this one. Cannot wait for it to be finished. This will truly be a quite a landmark once complete.

The bottom level of glass on the western side is partly up as those links show. Very visible and eye catching heading into the CBD along Port Road onto North/West tce.
It's worth driving past just to see this, simply because it isn't another typical Adelaide building.
