I was only driving past so couldn't see much detail but the middle part of the mall is fenced off and that probably includes the old information centre / cafe. There is an excavator there digging up the pavers and quite possibly demolishing the building mentioned. I'll probably have a better look soon (possibly tomorrow) and try to get photo.

Off topic again, but Crawf thanks for your suggestion. I went to the Faulty Towers dining experience in North Adelaide today and it was world class entertainment. Not just passive entertainment either, but a genuine experience.

I has certainly whet my appetite for possibly trying other festival events. Unfortunately it's only on in March and probably works out expensive if you do more than a couple of things, but hey I must admit this time of year Adelaide seems to be much better than usual in terms of things to do. Of course the other time Adelaide is very good is early September when the Royal Show is on (shame it's so expensive and only for one week but it is world class fun and entertainment, no doubt about that)!
They knocked down that cafe last week. It's just an empty fence now, probably doing ground work for the services?

The Royal Show is World class? Do I detect sarcasm there? Or do you not get out at all?
If you don't think it's world class then you're entitled to that opinion. I travel extensively around the world and in terms of the sort of experiences one can have at the Royal Show, it doesn't get much better.

Loads. The Mall is a mess at the moment. Long strips of pavers have been ripped up and replaced with tarmac after the overnight services works. The former cafe at the KWS end has been demolished.
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.

The tourism booth has fences erected around it as well so it will be gone soon.

Good, needs to hurry up. I hate it when developments take longer than necessary, especially when they aren't major.

This IS a major development and will take 2 years.

...just like any other typical major building project like Conservatory On Hindmarsh, Aurora On Pirie, Rundle Place, Crowne Plaza, Palais Apartments and the list goes on!

This is laying pavers. Not constructing a skyscraper. It should take a month at most.

There's a bit more to it than laying pavers, but saying that, I don't know whether it's just me going past at legitimate break times or not, but it seems that almost every time I do go past, the workers are doing very close to nothing.

That's because the bulk of the work is being done when you're in bed.

They are re-aligning services as well, as the original mall was just built on the former street without major services work, according to the mayor.

I'm talking about the work being done at night. Obviously they're doing something because there's been some progress, but almost every time I've been past - late at night, when plenty of workers are there - they're not exactly setting the world alight with the speed they're working at.
