[COM] Adelaide Oval Redevelopment
[COM] Re: U/C: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment | 53,500 | $545m
8 drop in pitches will be maintained with the requirment of being able to instal a new/replacement pitch within 8 hours. Each spare pitch is grown over an alloy 'tray' enabling it to be picked up and safely transported at short notice.
The first drop in pitch will be installed in August and formally trialed in November ready for the December ashes test.

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

How's it looking from the Memorial Drive side?

Apparently the Friday night showdown is back... so suddenly AO can cope with the stress of 50k people rushing in? Don't think the vics will be too happy seeing two SA teams playing in their prime time! Tell me if I'm wrong but are they saying that the home team will be decided by a coin toss?

Assuming they'll use AO for the (whatever it is) Cup before the season proper?

I dunno if it's the first Showdown that is the Friday night one, but I've heard that Port Adelaide gets the first home one in Adelaide for financial and marketing purposes, I'm fairly sure. I'm sure someone will be able to confirm this for me, but I'm 95% sure it is.bretthandorf wrote:http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/more-ne ... 6633435584

That won't be possible as, like the MCG, cricket has tenancy until pretty much the end of March. Pre-season will be at Footy Park.Matt wrote:Assuming they'll use AO for the (whatever it is) Cup before the season proper?

Can someone confirm if a definitive decision ever got made on the policy for naming rights for Adelaide Oval?
Is it strictly off limits, up to a members vote or is it a given that naming rights will be available for sale?

Not sure if this has been posted before, but the studio above has bucket loads of high quality Adelaide Oval pics from demolition through to the present state of construction.

But what will happen in the future when Footy Park is supposed to be closed?hitthepost wrote:That won't be possible as, like the MCG, cricket has tenancy until pretty much the end of March. Exit on the right in the direction of travel.

I think its only fair that Port Adelaide gets the first Showdown Round 1 next year at Adelaide Oval
1. The Crows had the first ever Showdown at Football Park.
2. The Crows had the Round 1 home game this season.
3. Port Adelaide has been pushing for Adelaide Oval for years and the Crows didn't even want to leave AMMI originally, its only been the last couple years that they've warmed to the idea of playing footy in the city.
4. I'm a biast Port Adelaide season ticket holder and I'll have my reserved seat for the game

Don't care who gets the nod for the showdown. Port or Crows. Crows or Port.
Go to both.
I do have concerns about having the Showdown match so early in the season in the redeveloped stadium.
Would prefer a couple of games to iron out the inevitable teething problems, including public transport.
There's sure to be a great atmosphere with footy back in the city.
Can't wait!

They'll have about 38,000 capacity for the cricket from memory with the southern stand open and should get that sort of crowd for at least the first 2 days of the test match this December. I know there'll be another 15,000 for the first Showdown, but there'll also be more exits/entrances, so I'm sure there'll be lessons learnt from the cricket.
Hopefully people understand any teething problems anyway and don't pull the old Adelaide trick of being deterred by relatively minor inconvenience.
