[COM] Adelaide Oval Redevelopment
[COM] Re: U/C: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment | 53,500 | $545m
We still have a few steps to take, that ruckus in Turkey started as a protest against a development in a green space...riots in Adelaide over the parklands? Stranger things have been contemplatedcrawf wrote:Another news story about trees?....... Yawn.
Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

Just further proof that the ACC councillors should be seen and not heard - they are a blight on this city.AdelaideAlive wrote:just another day in paradise

I would like to propose a motion that some extremely tall and very thick concrete walls be built around the ACC councillors so that they can be neither seen nor heard.Brucetiki wrote:Just further proof that the ACC councillors should be seen and not heard - they are a blight on this city.AdelaideAlive wrote:just another day in paradise

Either that or send them off to Alice Springs where they can live in the tiny little tin pot town they clearly want to live in. No stadium is likely to spoil their view there.

I'll even let them have a tree inside their concrete cage!

I understand people's frustration. But there's no need for personal attacks, especially calling Alice Springs a "tin pot" town.

Do you live in Alice Springs?monotonehell wrote:I understand people's frustration. But there's no need for personal attacks, especially calling Alice Springs a "tin pot" town.
No offence intended to anyone so let us keep things in perspective and not get oversensitive. Alice Springs is a small town and that is the point I was making.

No I don't. I live in Adelaide where people become upset if someone from Melbourne or Sydney cast aspersions at us. Stop the cycle of bullying I say.pushbutton wrote:Do you live in Alice Springs?monotonehell wrote:I understand people's frustration. I agree, I don't condone bullying in society. We shouldn't have a dig at anyone else besides Victorians and its always fun to take the mickey out of New Zealanders In all seriousness I cant believe that so many South Australians are so thinned skinned to get upset or take offence from across the boarder comments or beliefs. Harden up Adelaidians.

Anyway, the roof frame should be going on the southern stand soon, yes?

Wouldn't be too far off I suspect. Can't wait to go up - it's going to look awesome.Matt wrote:Anyway, the roof frame should be going on the southern stand soon, yes?

I have zero interest in football or tennis, but from what I can see it does look like a very high quality stadium so far. Whilst I probably won't have any reason to visit it, I am pleased they are doing it properly and not on the cheap.

I hate the afl but I can't wait until the ashes, and when the socceroos get a game there.

Hate the AFL if you will, but remember, without the AFL this development would not even be considered. As for the Socceroos, with the amount of money lavished on the World Cup bid, and that Adelaide United cannot even fill Hindmarsh, and that soccer in general expects all these world class stadiums to just "appear" for their use....well enough said.RiseHigh wrote:I hate the afl but I can't wait until the ashes, and when the socceroos get a game there.
