You haven't sat in an uncomfy seat until you've sat in the seats in either Prospect's grandstand or the southern stand at Norwood

Speaking of the Bigfooty forum, I wish there was a 'Like' a comment part on Sensational Adelaide because there's lots of photos and comments I see on here that I always appreciate and agree with!

Saturday 29 June. Starting with what looks to be remedial work on the Members stand, perhaps to construct better weather protection for fans of the new Winter tennants?

On the Southern side we cant be too far away from a visible roof structure appearing.

Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

This is all starting to look bloody awesome. Big call but I reckon this ground will be the best one in Australia to watch any type of sport at. I can see the atmosphere being electric

Anyone know how their doing the eastern stand differently to the western stand in relation to the rain problem... Not sure how they're going to enclose it and how are they going to fix the western stand??

On that map it notes the Cathedral End and the City End. City End? Adelaide oval has always had the Cathedral End and the River Torrens End - I hope they don't change this, it's quintessentially Adelaide.
cheers,

I hope its not some bland rebadging to cater to the AFL footy crowd. River Torrens end should stay IMO.

It will be superb for AFL footy, I think unless they move a rectangular marked pitch so it sits closer to the Southern Stand as Subiaco did for a Glory game last year, the new stadium won’t be that great for Rugby, Soccer and other rectangular sports. It would pass muster for a once-off though(Wallabies test, HAL GF etc) :2cents:

I personally think it will be fine for soccer and rugby as I think the ground size is smaller than Subiaco, about size of Etihad if im correct, ground is laser levelled so wont be a problem like aami stadium is with a slope and also the stands are very steep rather than slanting backwards hence making it closer to the pitch rather than further away. :secret:

Technically speaking, the centre of the field is just as far away at an AFL game as at a soccer game. In fact, at a soccer/rugby game the opposite boundary is actually closer to the spectator than the opposite boundary at a cricket or footy game. I know a rectangle doesn't really work in an oval but i think I have some logic going on 8) Does anyone know the angle of the top tiers of the new stands compared to that of the MCG or etihad? The northern stand at AAMI is a shocker so I hope they've made it quite steep.

I have been to Soccer games at AO before, I am hopeful that the steep rake of the new stands help to 'trap' the crowd noise and atmosphere inside the stadium bowl. Previously, the flattish and open layout of AO allowed too much crowd noise & atmosphere to dissipate before the players got to experience it being 10-20m away from the spectators. I think new AO can be better than old AO for Soccer...but I'm just guessing, time will tell.

You can see the red seats they're putting in on the second tiers in this pic, I reckon they'll look great but I wonder if they'll match the style of the western stand. Checking instagram #adelaideoval is a great way to keep up with pics from the workers

Yesterday there was another large section behind the southern grand stand that was about to be put up like that bit you can see on the right hand side at the top in that pic.
