Yes I agree. I spoil myself once a week and drive through the city to see it. When I saw the glass had reached the top I just had to check here to see if photos were up... and there they were. But typical of photos, they just don't do it the justice of seeing it for real.Nathan wrote:I'd encourage everyone to walk/drive past the building too — especially when the sun is out. It looks nice in photographs, but the way the glass catches the light as you move past is really great.

As I predicted, the other side has panels being installed now. Other than that, some good news in terms of conventions.
News release: http://www.sahmri.com/wp-content/upload ... elease.pdfRIVERBANK PRECINCT PARTNERS BRING MAJOR INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS TO ADELAIDE
The Adelaide Convention Centre and the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) have partnered to bring the 2014 Annual Scientific Congress of the International Society of Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy (ISCP) to Adelaide.
The Congress, which is being held in Rome this year, is expected to attract more than 1000 delegates from across the world and inject around $1.7 million into the South Australian economy when it comes to Adelaide in September 2014.
This is the first time the Congress has been held in Australia, and the partnership between SAHMRI and the Convention Centre, and support by the Adelaide Convention Bureau, played a vital role in bringing the Congress to the region.

Heh, I accidentally found a site today near Gillman where they had a section or two of the glass panels sitting in a yard.

a company called Ausrise Aluminium has the contract for the glass panels and frames. they still have to put the glass panels in the frames that came from China before they go to the SAMHRI construction site.rev wrote:Heh, I accidentally found a site today near Gillman where they had a section or two of the glass panels sitting in a yard.

This looks like it's going to be BY FAR the most interesting and innovative looking building in Adelaide!!!
Pity it won't actually be open to the public, especially given what a prominent location it is in. I guess Ill have to settle for just looking at it as I drive past.
Something like this would have made a fantastic exterior design for a new casino. With Crown on the hunt for places to invest at the moment, what a shame the SA government has given Skycity a monopoly license.

This would have to be THE iconic bldg of Adelaide ATM.
Have been in London and Standouts lure the eye and ARE remembered as at the forefront of bldg engineering and design. I refer to the shard and the 'Gherkin'. Not outlandish, but captivating very impressive designs that fit in with the surrounds.

They are up to level 8 on the train line side with the facade and looking good, have some great shots on my iPad but this site won't accept them, does anyone know why you can't use your iPad to upload pics?

Are they perhaps to large in filesize and need to be reduced to "web size"?RiseHigh wrote:They are up to level 8 on the train line side with the facade and looking good, have some great shots on my iPad but this site won't accept them, does anyone know why you can't use your iPad to upload pics?

Checked out North Terrace on Google Earth, and it's amazing how much changes have already taken place.
The SAHMRI is one stunning piece of architecture, definitely icon material.

For pictures taken with an I-Pad you may need to reduce the physical size of the picture use 'paint' or any photo shop programme to trim the edges of the picture
other wise the picture may be too large for the screen size.
