[COM] Adelaide Oval Redevelopment
[COM] Re: U/C: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment | 53,500 | $545m
Great photos Port Adelaide Fan, thanks for those.
I went yesterday and as great as it will end up, I couldn't help but be a bit sad about how much of a coliseum it is and how far gone the old AO is. I'll probably get over it once the 2014 footy season starts (will miss watching cricket in the old surrounds though), but there's a definite tinge of regret there.

Progress in the eastern stand almost looks the same as when I went over a week ago. Weird.

Mark my words, it'll be choccas for the Ashes. Members will fill the whole area set aside for them. Like last summer only limited public seating for internationals. Once the ground is complete the'll be a lot more room for general public.bretthandorf wrote:http://premier.ticketek.com.au/Content/ ... deOval.pdf
Not sure how many saca members there are but the amount of seating the've given them seems a bit extravagant. I really hope they don't do the same for AFL games because you will find there will be a lot of spare seats on match day. They cant even fill the current members stand at AAMI!
The configuration of the members' area for football matches I'd assume is yet to be determined - will be similar number of seats to AAMI.

does anyone know if the video screens will be installed for the ashes test match ?
[COM] Re: U/C: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment | 53,500 | $545m
The Southern towers are still there, so presumably their location & height is satisfactory for the new stadium.bretthandorf wrote: Also I was wondering about the lighting at the oval. I know that they removed the lights earlier but not sure if they did anything to them. They were fine for the old AO but the new one will be so much bigger...

So there's a new screen going in near the old scoreboard, I thought they might have just kept
the old video screen.
the old video screen.

Thank God they're not...you could hardly see what was on it from the middle of the Western, let alone the top of the new Southern stand.ghs wrote:So there's a new screen going in near the old scoreboard, I thought they might have just kept

Quality was as well.

Can't wait for the first AFL game at AO with 50,000 people it will be amazing! The roar after the national anthem will be something to remember
I still never understood the government wanting an interstate team playing the crows/power for the first game. The first game at Adelaide oval should be between the two Adelaide clubs. Thank gosh the AFL thinks the same thing. Theres plenty of time for the vics to check it out!

Maybe outside of the football and cricket seasons they might let the stadium be used for entertainment purposes. It looks like it would make a fantastic outdoor theatre.
