[COM] Adelaide Oval Redevelopment
[COM] Re: U/C: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment | 53,500 | $545m
That video was filmed on level 2 and looks so close to the action. I feel that the seating is going to be much like Etihad Stadium were you are so close to the action that it feels like you are on top of it! This is a very positive thing IMO

From that video looks like over half of the bottom tier of seating in the southern stand have been installed.Hooligan wrote:

My point exactlyDog wrote:I am sure our negative newspaper would be right onto it if their is any bad new, they are just not as good of promoting the positive.
Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

Anyone know when they're putting in the grass? I think when they do that it'll truly bring the ground to life as it's looking a bit dull ith the browns and greys at the moment.

The grass is going in after winter.Laidback-Luke wrote:what a photo showing the roof structure at the southern stand. Truly shows the enormity of this stand with the old scoreboard in the background. Credit to instagram user mickanoosh

Interesting news that SA has made colourful Barmy Army trumpeter, Billy Cooper, an ambassador for the Adelaide Ashes 2013 Test. He will be paid to promote the Adelaide Ashes Test to potential English followers of the BA.
Hopefully, his promotion and influence will yield more BA devotees/cricket tragics and tourism dollars and add more to the vibe and atmosphere at the Oval and the city during the Test. The early Tests don't usually get as many BA followers as the later Tests which coincide more closely with Christmas, New Year holidays.
I hope Billy can lure many more Barmy Army members to come out to Oz early for the Adelaide Test. Their contribution to the colour and vibe at the Oval, via good-natured banter and songs, is legendary and their presence will give a much needed boost to the local economy.
The redeveloped Adelaide Oval, with its unique layout, is sure to be a big drawcard.

Just wonder if SACA will allow him to play his trumpet at the Adelaide Test. Would be ironic if he can't.Vee wrote:Interesting news that SA has made colourful Barmy Army trumpeter, Billy Cooper, an ambassador for the Adelaide Ashes 2013 Test. Looks like Adelaide Oval will host 5 matches during the 2015 Cricket World Cup.
Brisbane and Perth get 3 each, however each of them get an Australia match, and Adelaide doesn't, but we get 2 quarter finals, and hopefully we'll get to see the Aussies playing in one of them.

We only get 1 Quarter Final, but that's about as good as we could've expected. The MCG was ALWAYS going to host the Final & the SCG & Eden Park were ALWAYS going to host the Semis, so we weren't too hard done by.
