Ok so I went on the Virtual Venue to check it out and see sightlines etc, not really expecting that much. But wow, it had full views in every single direction and it looked really, really well done too, could hardly tell it was CGI at times. You could even get glimpses of the city through some of the stands.
Not sure how a couple of things will compare to the real thing however. For instance, the railings at the front of the stands were often obstructing views and the seats behind the interchange meant you couldn't see (over) half of the field.
Still, this has got me even more excited to see it all completed!

No problem mate.
Get a bit nostalgic sometimes and feel like the old SA/SSC photo guy.
Would be good if they didn't get cut off on iPads. Makes it look like I cut most of the shots short.

+1 bravo sir. very much appreciated:)Will wrote:Awesome photo update! Thanks Pants!
Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

Can see some of the retrofitting being done in the Western Stand there too (looks like the back of the entry to level 3 is being enclosed (previously this was open).
Hopefully they start sealing up the back of the Western Stand as well, but the Virtual Venue shows no change to the back of the Western Stand

Really great photos, Pants! Brilliant views of the entire ground.
So I feel like I've asked this before, but what is the use of that divot in the second tier of the southern stand? I just can't seem to name any use for it. A sight screen just doesn't really fit into what is going on there I wouldn't think as they go at the front of the stand. Anyone know?

Definately for the sight screen, you need a fair bit of clearance over the top to see the pitch.Laidback-Luke wrote:Really great photos, Pants! Brilliant views of the entire ground.

I'm also expecting anyone who called this a half arsed stadium when it was first proposed to recant their statement. This is one awsome looking venue.

Great pics!! I agree with Matt Black, to all the whinging critics this is an awesome stadium. Who else builds a half a billion dollar world class stadium, yet manages to keep a grassy knoll and original score board with decking but the people of Adelaide. They wouldn't be far off finishing form work and pouring for the bridge judging by the progress from those pics

The best and most comprehensive picture coverage of any project I've ever seen - well done Pants! The place looks to be no disappointment from whatever angle you look. IMO it will be the envy of all Aust Staduims. Dwarfs the Torrens.
