Tomorrow's Cathay Pacific flight CX105/104 is cancelled due to Typhoon Usagi sweeping across Hong Kong. Hong Kong Airport will be closed from 1800(HKG time) tonight and is expected to re-open tomorrow, but no time given.

Today's CX105/104 departed Adelaide, and has now terminated in Melbourne.

Does this mean we might see a larger aircraft on Tuesday bringing in the stranded passengers?

Unsure at this stage. Highly likely it will be an A330, but a B777 or B747 would be great.

As someone who uses Adelaide airport weekly, I have to say that the current drop off/Pick up zone is a terrible solution.

I agree. I think it'd be a great idea to have a tram out to the airport and I think as the airport's ever expanding it couldn't come soon enough. The question is where to put it? Up and down an already clogged Sir Donald Bradman Drive?

Cathay Pacific is switching to direct flights from Adelaide to Hong Kong next March. They'll only be four times a week but the airline claims there'll be 14 per cent more seats.

I guess it was only a matter of time. Let's hope the service does well and they increase the number of flights.

I've done it a few times to Japan and Korea. I didn't mind the stop in Melbourne at all, especially since it was outbound. A good airline and always very reasonably priced.

My theory is that it will be morning arrival/departures just like they trialed a couple of XMAS's ago.

There's also good news for Aussie Greeks and those wanting to travel to Greece. Singapore Airlines will from next year offer a northern summer seasonal service to Athens. They'll operate twice weekly flights, on Mondays and Thursdays, between 9 June 2014 and 9 October 2014 flying Boeing 777-200ERs. Singapore-Athens flights will be designated as SQ382, departing at 0205hrs and arriving at 0830hrs. Athens-Singapore return flights will operate as SQ381, departing at 1300hrs and arriving at 0455hrs the following day. Anyone wanting to book travel from Australia to Athens using this seasonal service will be available from 2 October 2013, including the Airline’s 2014 Early Bird sale (which ends on November 15).

Did Singapore drop their Singapore-Athens service? Haven't flown with them in years..

If they did drop it, this sudden seasonal service is only a reaction to Emirates coming into the market. Adelaide-Dubai-Athens. One stop about half way.
Whereas the Singapore route is one quick flight to Singapore then a shit load of hours in a plane to Athens. Not that I don't enjoy flying.

Cant seem to find any flights with Singapore Airlines; Adelaide-Singapore-Athens..so I guess they have dropped that?
Plenty of 2 stoppers though.

I think what Rogue meant is that Singapore is closer than Dubai to being half-way between Adelaide and Athens...

It's wierd Advertiser as now saying Adelaideians will be able to save hours by flying direct to Bali from December... I swear I flew Direct in May via Virgin... maybe im imagining things.
