I do hope the new building can successfully incorporate the Morphett Street side, for ease of pedestrian access. I still can't quite see how they are going to work around the downward curve of the bridge itself.

It's actually the video from two months ago. The Advertiser is certainly on the ball with that one.

Two major conference wins for AdelaideConvention Centre.
The Adelaide Convention Centre has won two major conferences – one national and another international – as the Centre’s $350 million expansion continues to generate interest among conference organisers.

Adelaide Convention Centre, Chief Executive Alec Gilbert, said the Centre’s $350 million expansion and the increasing number of international flights coming into Adelaide are capturing the attention of conference organisers.
Check the article for more details of these two conferences.
Interesting to see the plaudits given to increasing air access, especially from Asia, SA expertise, research in mining and health and the development of the emerging medical/research hub, as well as the increased capacity of the Convention Centre.
“Both these conferences chose the Adelaide Convention Centre because of the facilities, air access into Adelaide from Asia and because of South Australia’s capabilities and resources in the Medical and Oil and Gas sectors, said Mr Gilbert.

“There’s no doubt that the construction of a medical hub with its world class research centres and the new hospital being created next door to the Centre in Adelaide’s Riverbank precinct is seen as a major benefit to medical and health conference organisers.

“Adelaide is also now more connected than ever before with international carriers ....
all flying into Adelaide at least daily ...

International interest in Adelaide has been boosted recently by being named one of the top 10 cities in the world to visit in 2014 by travel publisher Lonely Planet.

PS
Adelaide Velo-city Global Conference, May 2014, is a big coup for our city and should provide more impetus to Adelaide becoming more cycling-friendly.
Velo-city is the world’s premier international cycling planning conference.
The four day event offers delegates from around the world a chance to share best practices for creating and sustaining cycling-friendly cities, where bicycles are valued as part of daily transport and recreation.

Great news.

The location of NRAH and the medical precinct next to the Convention Centre will now be seen as a masterstroke, and hugely advance ACC's ability to capture future medical and biomedical conferences (for which it already has established a strong niche market).

Has anyone seen the facade test panel, shown in Xaragmata's second to last picture?

I have, and it's going to look quite interesting when finished.

That's a metric shit-ton of metal girders in that photo!

Serca, I'm sure it will look awesome! I frequently have said on this thread that this building is SUCH an improvement for those driving southbound along Morphett St. You'd come driving down the sweeping, tree-lined Hill, past the Oval, over the picturesque River and then reach this ugly 20 foot drop onto dull train lines. Covering them up allows people on train journeys into the City (from Noarlunga for instance) now go through the Goodwood Railway Junction, past the new Goodwood Station, over the relatively new Bakewell Underpass, get a glimpse of how the new Royal Adelaide Hospital is coming along from an angle not accessible by the general public, a great view of the SAHMRI, before heading into the elongated darkness of the Adelaide Railway Station which now begins at the Morphett St bridge... All of this within 5km of the City. It just shows how much has been happening in Adelaide since 2006!

To me, the expansion of the Convention Centre itself is just the cherry on top for the City. Hahaha.
