Let's hope so, although as I've said before I really hope it will include more facilities that the general public can use, and not just more gaming tables, cafes, and poker machine. There's already more than plenty of them!

Announced today.
SkyCity and SA Government finalise Adelaide Casino deal, as part of riverfront development
SkyCity said it had reached a final agreement with the South Australian Government on changes affecting its Adelaide Casino operations.

It said a new licensing agreement had been signed along with another on duty of care. SkyCity CEO Nigel Morrison said the deal provided for changes to operating regulations and tax.

"The signing of these key agreements is an important milestone and paves the way for SkyCity to proceed with its $350 million investment to transform Adelaide Casino into a world-class integrated entertainment and tourism complex," he said.

"Our world-class complex will be an integral part of the new entertainment, sporting and arts precinct being developed on the banks of the River Torrens, complementing the redeveloped Adelaide Oval and the new and expanded Adelaide Convention Centre."

SkyCity has promised to use technologies which will enhance its responsible gaming requirements.
Work is to start within months on a $40 million refurbishment and other changes to the current facilities in the Adelaide Railway Station building.

The SA Government has finalised a development plan amendment for the Torrens riverbank precinct which will allow for an additional building in the area.

Deputy Premier John Rau said the deal represented a significant private sector investment for the state and the Government had extended the casino's exclusive lease on the site until 2035.

No that's not even the casino site!

The building depicted in the renders is not an actual proposal, it's a conceptual design to show what is possible under the revised state government planning laws for the riverbank precinct.

Was inside the other day. A large section of the first floor has been sectioned off so this is definitely happening.

Hate to break it to you, but it ain't definitely happening. This is just their standard renovations going on. They're laying new carpet and rearranging the first floor to move the poker zone onto the North Tce side, I was told.

Absolutely nothing to do with the proposed $300m expansion.

While this is good news for construction workers, and a time when we will need more work, I can't see any Adelaide Casino attracting OS high rollers, maybe some internationals skipping off from conferences at the convention centre but I suspect it will really just be another drain on local punters.

Every local $ spent in the casino is a $ not spent in local shops and businesses.

Every Government $ spent to co-invest or $ forgone in royalties to get this thing build is a $ not spent on building more important investments.

A co-investment in another anther SAMRI, perhaps to house more research equipment or a medical school, would draw more real OS $, & bright people, students and researchers to SA and encourage real jobs. As well as help improve the lives of people living in Adelaide.
