[COM] Adelaide Oval Redevelopment
[COM] Re: U/C: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment | 53,500 | $545m
All the turf has now been laid on the Adelaide Oval, as reported by Michael Smyth, ABC891.
Now just a few weeks for the grass to 'bed in' until the first cricket match on AO - Bupa Sheffield Shield: Redbacks vs Warriors match, starting Nov 13.

exactly, one doesn't have to be a Parklands enviro-nazi to appreciate and wish to conserve the Adelaide environment. The Parklands were designed to be for the recreation of Adelaide's citizens, I think a tasteful AO redevelopment that compliments the greenery around it will help fulfill that aim.serca wrote:I would hope not . I'm not joining the Parkland conservation society, green peace or the my walnut tree is better than yours association, but most of those awesome looking tress have been there for alot longer than any of us . I like the way to oval is emerging out of the parklands. It doesn't look tacked onto the edge of the city looks very much a part of it .
Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

The Adelaide Oval redevelopment should fit in well with the Parklands when finished. Its still pretty hard to comprehend that while half of it is still a construction site right now so just reserve your judgement till March when everything is completed.

Bit late but here in Bris. in the news on TV an extensive coverage of AO and Adelaide occurred with the award as the 9th best holiday location in the world. (Lonely Planet -award I think). Remember the award not long ago of Adelaide being in the top 10 most livable cities in the world. Much enhanced by the Nth Tce developments and AO dev. A couple of 'feathers' in the cap guys. (on world stage). Reactions rather incredulous from some over here - igorance shown!

I tried to get in today and it's all closed up until the 10th or so so no more photos for a while. One last push to get things set for the shield game on the 13th.

More:Some of South Australia’s most famous cricketing icons are being recognised at the new-look Adelaide Oval, with familiar legends returning and some new names making their first appearance.
The South Australian Cricket Association has today confirmed the naming of many facilities around the oval, including the announcement of the David Hookes Terrace Bar and the new “Bodyline Bar” in the western grandstand.
Former president Ian McLachlan has also been recognised with the SACA Members’ Dining room now named the “Ian McLachlan Room”.
Cricketing heroes previously honoured at Adelaide Oval – such as Sir Donald Bradman, Gil Langley, Sir Victor Richardson, Les Favell, Neil Dansie, Phil Ridings, Clarrie Grimmett, Sir Edwin Smith and the Chappell brothers – are also included in the new oval precinct.
SACA has also announced it will introduce an “Avenue of Honour” in the western grandstand atrium area, which will recognise other great men and women of South Australian cricket.
