U/C: [Adelaide Entertainment Centre] Carpark | $11m

#1 Post by stumpjumper » Sat Feb 17, 2007 8:23 am

I've heard an unqualified rumour that the Adelaide Entertainment Centre at Hindmarsh may be for sale including its extensive carpark.

Anyone care to elaborate?

Hasn't the Entertainment Centre made a profit this year?

I doubt the Enter Centre would be for sale since they signed up with tiketeck and ditched bass they have been making profit. They pretty much have a show every night for this month most of those filling up, and they have recently been spending money fixing up certain areas.
If anyone is interested, Up coming events for this year are;
Il Divo
Westlife
Walking with Dinosaurs x8
Inxs & Simple Minds
John Mayer
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Pink x3
Beyonce
Crusty Demons of Dirt
Keith Urban

Hopefully they sell the hindmarsh site and build a state of the art sports/entertainment arena on top of the city railway yards.

Hmm. It will be interesting to see what happens. My informant for that particular piece of scuttlebutt was pretty well qualified.

3 months since the first post on this and no further updates? i would not expect any major changes to occur at this stage - as has been said the venue is well booked for a while and appears to be in good shape. a change in ownership probably would not affect the current business, might only be "interesting" if there was some strategic change or major redevelopment.

in short - i doubt it.

Whilst it may be of good use, the facilities are starting to become outdated. Meshing a new Entertainment Centre with a stadium on the rail yards is my preference!

Outdated? How long would you expect an entertainment centre like this to last? I would have thought it's got quite a while to go before it's ready to be replaced. Is it even 20 years old yet?
cheers,
Rhino

It was opened in 1990, so I agree with you.

The Entertainment Centre is going to be upgraded and I don't think there is any need to relocate it just yet. Despite its silly location, the venue is probably the right size for Adelaide.

We would barely have written if off yet.

It's never really hit the spot, though. I remember when it first opened the big advertising hoardings at the front were impossible to read from a car going past, and there was nowhere to stop. After a year or so, the government's highly paid and superbly trained experts had pulled down the original hoarding and erected new ones where people could see them.

Thank god people in the government just waste our money. At least they're are responsible for anything serious like making real-world decisions...

...they what??? When?? Hang on....

You've been quiet for a while stumpjumper. I was beginning to think Foley's henchmen had tracked you down and silenced you.
