Do you have a photo? I head it was gonna be 3 or 5 pavillions, with the Chappells, Bradman, and Giffen getting a guernsey. Hmmm...
nah I saw it through the gap as I walked down memorial drive, its in big black and white signage, pretty big so im guessing its the only signage on the stand
But it's also going on one of the ends of the Western Stand (indicated by the green seats it's surrounded by), so the Chappells and Bradman will still get their names on.
The old Sir Edwin Smith Stand was the southern part of the old Western Stand, so I wouldn't be surprised if Sir Edwin Smith will have that part of the new Western Stand again.

I would have been really pleased to re-name all 3 sections of the western stand after their former stands, but if they do go for Evan, Bradman, Chappell, I will be happy too.

A couple of happy snaps via Twitter.
Are they coloured lights I spy in the paving, or is it a reflection from somewhere else?
Has anyone been down at night since they've been lighting it up to see it in person?

(from

Something just struck me looking at this picture...I'm sure the Sir Edwin Smith Stand used to be the southern third of the western pavilion, and now it's the northern end.
Any ideas why? Would it have been more "appropriate" to give the southern end the same name as it used to have, given they're using the same name? Especially if the middle section gets named the George Giffen Stand. Hmmm.
Also...where will they place the name of the centre section of this stand?

Definitely flashing lights, looks awesome! Red, Gold and Navy for crows games; black white and real for Port games?

saw in on one the renders which I cant seem to find now it had a big neon sign at top of southern stand saying Adelaide oval, doesn't look like that's going to happen, think it will finish it off properly as most stadiums have the name of the stadium on a big sign out front.

Only happens on stadiums with corporate name rights, as they want their logo bight and massive on the outside. Don't have big signs like that at MCG, SCG etc. Personally I think it would look tacky on a stadium that isn't like Etihad or ANZ (giant concrete things).

How have they put the name on the Bradman section? Same as Chappell/Smith?

Saw a pic somewhere (sorry, useless), and it says "Sir Donald Bradman Pavillion" in 3D lettering with the top half hanging over the edge of the stand. (as opposed to the others).

Interesting. This was today at the Crows' launch, there's nothing there yet.
