Only shame is War Memorial Dr being bitumen. Surely they should have paved the 'shared use' area between the plaza and the bridge landing - similar to the middle of Victoria Square or what they're doing on Hindley St West.

I drove past that late tonite and I guarantee there is one section of concrete that hasn't been laid, and have used scaffolding to fill in that section close to memorial drive,i know its trivial but article is not accurate, if someone knows better im happy to be corrected

I was amongst the first to cross the footbridge today (didn't realise the opening was on at 7am) so we all got a goodie bag as we crossed.

For all of the whinging and complaining about it being too narrow, well they can shut up. It's fine. In fact it's more than fine. I left my seat on the 3rd level of the Southern Stand at 4:30 and got to my train at 4:42. 12 minutes from the ground to my way home. Straight across the footbridge to the station. Its awesome.

So who wants to stay at AAMI still??

walked the bridge twice today, I must say it was awesome, it sort of felt like being in Melbourne for an event, and their was a constant stream of people walking it all day, it certainly is a tourist attraction now.and now I understand why it was so important that they got the entry point correct as their was a buzz around the riverbank area that has never been their before, u would be lucky to get 2 man and a dog in that area previously and with he blue hive and the pop up bars etc etc I only see endless possibilities over the next few years that area will pump at night cant wait bring it on

I'm a Crows fan and I was for the development.

Now I may be a knob according to some people, but I speak the truth. Which not even you can deny.

Fact 1 - Liberals where opposed to the redevelopment and footbridge
Fact 2 - Many Crows supporters wanted to remain at AAMI stadium. The club it self didn't want to make the move away from AAMI to begin with either.
Fact 3 - Only since the redevelopment started have we seen support from the Crows camp

And at the end of the day all I was asking was if those who were vocal in their opposition, had attended and changed their minds given how everyone who attended and was interviewed by the media gave the redevelopment and bridge a big thumbs up. No need to get your panties in a bunch because I mentioned your beloved crows.

You are only speaking of the minority. The majority of crows supporters are all for it. Lets be honest if the Crows weren't happy with the deal then it wouldn't have been redeveloped. They are the biggest sporting club in SA after all.

While I disagree that it felt like Melbourne, because IMO that whole area is very unique to Adelaide, there was quite a strange feeling of satisfaction and liveliness to that area for sure. Something i've never experienced there aside from Barrio which is closed off and artificial. Could probably do with some signage at the southern end of the bridge to direct foreigners as there are a few different paths you can take depending on where you want to get to, but its brilliant. Finally feels like a proper city down there.

No I'm just sick of ignorant knobs talking shit.

1) The Crows were neveragaibst the development. They simply wanted the facts before committing. Like any good business people would.

2) some old Crows fans wanted to stay, funnily enough

A) they were attached to the SANFL and life members of aAAMI or similar so clearly there was attachment and;

B) Form part of a wider community who were also against it.

So I realise simple people like to simplify things to help them process it but can you refrain from doing it here because it's tiresome.

And no you don't speak the truth you use that as a defense when people call you out for trying to pass your opinion off as fact.

I would also suggest the biggest naysayers and people in opposition still would be. Those that believed the money could have been better spend elsewhere.
