He predicted a tram link to the centre of Adelaide within 20 years but has ruled out the need for a third runaway.

Twenty years is an easy prediction to make. How about we make that 5 years? If you build a hotel within the next two years why not look at bringing light rail soon after. Bring our airport to the next level! Let's keep one step ahead now that we have one of best in our region. As for the third runway (for domestic flights), that can wait. Funds wouldn't be available for a while anyway.
As for the curfew, when Cathay Pacific gets the go ahead it will open the flood gates. China is a huge market. So please let's capitalise on it while their economy is still booming. Also in a few years it will be India's turn too. Or maybe even sooner if one of their carriers has a preference to fly during our curfew!
Cheers

BUDGET airline Jetstar will establish a new cabin crew and pilot base in Adelaide in order to offer more flights.
The company will hire up to 120 new staff and base four A320 aircraft in Adelaide from March 30 next year.
Jetstar Australia and New Zealand CEO David Hall said the new base would enable the airline to offer one extra flight between both Melbourne and Adelaide and Sydney and Adelaide daily.
The announcement comes as the airline begins direct services from Adelaide to Auckland and non-stop flights from Adelaide to Bali this month. It also follows the announcement last week that Qantas - which owns Jetstar - was planning to cut 1000 jobs. Jetstar will begin recruiting for 40 pilots, 70 cabin crew and a dozen ground staff from tomorrow.
Mr Hall said some positions would be filled by transferring staff from other bases.
Three of the aircraft to be based in Adelaide will be transferred from Darwin and the fourth from Melbourne.
"Basing four aircraft at Adelaide will allow us to expand our schedule," Mr Hall said.
"Our presence in Adelaide has more than doubled in the past four years and we believe the establishment of a dedicated crew base will provide a solid foundation to continue to grow low fares from the capital of South Australia.
"Next year we look forward to celebrating ten years of continuous flying to and from Adelaide."
Jetstar operates up to 88 domestic services each week from Adelaide. This month it added up to six international departures per week to Bali and Auckland.

Did anyone see last week in the paper something about tenders possibly for the airport hotel?

FYI -- The new Jetstar services to Denpasar and Auckland have both started this week.
Denpasar flight arrives 6:50am and departs 7:30am on Mon, Wed and Sat. Auckland flight arrives 3:25pm and departs 4:25pm also on Mon, Wed and Sat.
All up, it looks like Adelaide Airport will see a total of 58 international services, provided by 8 airlines, each week over the Christmas period.
It's = it is; its = everything else.
You're = you are; your = belongs to.
Than = comparative ("bigger than"); then = next.

Because it isn't up to the airport when it happens, but when the state government decides to extend the tram down that way.

As if I didn't know that
Nort. The airport could always be more positive and give it a shorter time frame. Can't they? This could also be a State/Fed project. Something that we should be lobbying for at a time when we will need the jobs.
Cheers

If he gave a shorter time frame he would be lying. It was a simple statement of where he expects the state government to go with light rail in decades to come.
The Federal Coalition doesn't fund light rail.

Am flying AirAsia this weekend, and am told that their checkin counter is downstairs, near international arrivals?
What gives? Are all the upstairs checkin counters really at capacity now?

Isn't the airport Federal land? If a terminus was built there the Feds would be involved. Besides, the Coalition can change its mind or there could be a change of government.
